A #computer network is a group of computers that use a set of common communication protocols over digital interconnections for the purpose of sharing resources located on or provided by the #network nodes. The interconnections between nodes are formed from a broad spectrum of telecommunication network technologies, based on physically wired, optical, and wireless radio-frequency methods that may be arranged in a variety of network topologies.

The nodes of a #computer_network may be classified by many means as personal computers, servers, networking hardware, or general purpose hosts. They are identified by hostnames and network addresses. Hostnames serve as memorable labels for the nodes, rarely changed after initial assignment. Network addresses serve for locating and identifying the nodes by communication protocols such as the Internet Protocol.

In this comprehensive computer networking course you will learn ins and out of computer networking. You will learn from the very basic of computer networking to the very advance concept of networking. The following topic has been discussed in great details in this course:

A couple of things in the network 1 chapter it would be worth highlighting that horizontal cabling (wall plate to patch panel is 90m (300ft) leaving 5m for patch leads each end. Also in discussing the db9 / serial / roll over with the way it’s discussed may cause confusion. Roll over cable is just a cable that rolls over ie pin 1 to pin 8. It’s most common use is connecting to an 8p8c port on a Cisco device and they made use of serial ports were standard on pcs / laptops at the time bearing in mind this was before usb as well as the fact Ethernet network ports & modems didn’t come standard on laptops until the 2000’s. PCMCIA devices were used to add communications etc.
A serial port sends data down one “pipe” as distinct to a parallel port most often used to connect printers to pcs this used a db25 port which was standard on pcs at the time (often one db9 or 25 pin serial port and one db25 parallel port were located together. Now the rs-232 part (RS - Recommended Stand) defines how the data is sent and received b/w DTE (data terminal equipment - the pc) & DCE (Data Communication equipment - modem or router. This establishing the protocol if you will. Two other protocols you may come across are RS-422 & RS-485, the later is widely used in industrial & metering applications as the physical layer for MODBUS. The ts-485 is a single master that can communicate with multiple slaves over 1200meters.
