Lex in Smallville and Lex in the Supergirl show both had really high intelligence and came up with plans that could really have Superman struggling.

Id say the one in Supergirl is the closest to a comic book version we've had in live action. He was a bit campy in his performance but, also a bit scary, dude literally turned the sun red and messed with earth's climate, just so he could take down Superman. He gave himself cancer, so his sister could help him come up with a super serum that could both cure him and give him enough power to take down supes. He also planned out the events of the entirety of Season 4 of Supergirl, even made a cult leader villain to help distract Supergirl the whole season, someone she couldn't beat by just punching cos, the dude had a point about the collateral damage caused by her scuffles with villains (specifically aliens cos, the dude was racist). That Lex even made his own Lexosuit.

Even though the one in Superman and Lois is great and intimidating, he's not tech smart, he's just really good at planning and stuff.

So hopefully this new one gives us a bit of everything but tones down the campiness.

We already saw sci fi Superman in Man of steel, but people complained it was too sci fi and not slice of life and life lesson that will make you cry in the end enough

Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex had Superman literally on his knees, puppeteering the entire plot of BvS. I remember sitting in the theatre when he had the photos of Martha Kent and was like this dude is such an SOB. Really well written and executed IMO

Ill pass on this. It just looks cheap and cheesey for my taste. Looks like black Adam and Shazam into 1 movie. You can say snyder cultilist. But I wouldn't care if they swapped out Henry for David and put snyder in for gunn and the movie was like this trailer. I would still not see it. I just want a good superman movie. 90 percent green screen in a football stadium isn't for me. I like quality. Like when I see marvels trailer for 2025, just looks shot better. Like wolverine vs predator and the fan made stuff that I watch for fun on you tube looks better quality than this superman trailer.

Gunn is an absolute hypocrite. He states he wanted to chronicle Superman in his earlier years (hence the excuse not to be able continue with the existing canon and Cavil) and yet uses a character that comes along a lot later in superman’s “career” ie once the justice league has already been formed and that there are two other green lanterns and also uses an actor who is as old as Ben Afleck!
