The main question I get asked is what language someone who is learning sports analytics should learn, Python or R.

In this video, I'll go over the differences, benefits, and negatives of each.

thanks! now i use both: R seems simplier, but Python is more like a classic programming language (i started from C and C++)

I think R is great and totally agree with the ease of using if for visualisations and stats including machine learning. Only thing I general wish it was better at for a sports analyst perspective is Computer/Machine Vision. OpenCV seems soooo much better than anything I've managed to find on R :(

can not really understand your critique of R: I can do all those things in R (scraping, ML) with the additional benefit of learning the tidyverse syntax, so I can understand SQL as an add on as well...

Is it possible to get into this sports analytics industry without knowing any programming language. Because i am really interested in sports statistics and everything connected to it, however i do not find coding interesting and i cannot do it.
