Ash Wefnesday is another odservance on which the Body of Christ is divided. It would benefit us all in looking at tje history to trace why this day is counted from Easter Sunday and what Easter has to do with that day. I think there is a lot more to unearth here.

Very interesting. This is the first Ash Wednesday I will properly observe as I'm currently in the process of converting to Roman Catholicism from a nondenominational Protestant church (they only observe Holy Week before Easter.) I'll attend Mass at my parish, and then my RCIA class will discuss Lent. (RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation in Adults, which is the class converts to the Roman Catholic faith go through to understand the depths of the Catholic Faith.) I'll have my First Eucharist on Easter Vigil, the night before Easter. One thing to note on fasting: I learnt that it means you eat only 1 full meal, and then 2 smaller meals, but the 2 smaller meals cannot add up to the full meal.

We depend on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
The Bible is very clear on depending on the achievement on the Cross only can make us over comer and we over come by the blood of Jesus Christ and the testimony apart from this there is no victory over sin, and there is no deliverance from evil one.

It would be nice if someone would recognize it Evangelical Lutheran Church still practices Ash Wednesday it’s not only for Catholics and depends which person you listen to you get different reasons, but the bottom line is that it’s the beginning of lent which is the 40 days and then yes, some people choose to fast other people choose to devote more time to prayer other people instead of giving up some thing like giving up cigarettes, or giving up alcohol some people choose to take on something such as you know being more conscientious of different things but I’m so I’m listening to this for education because my pastor has retired but I always I always felt Ash Wednesday was important, but I do want to know more of the biblical aspect of it

You never supported your claim that the history of Ash Wednesday dates back to the Roman Empire. What you did do is offer text evidence from the Bible that ashes are a symbol of repentance, and then reference a post-schism document from the Latin church celebrating Ash Wednesday.

My inference: Ash Wednesday was not "a thing" prior to the schism, at least not in the Eastern Roman Empire. Can you offer any evidence to the contrary?
