Guys, today we tested Sony a7II against Canon 5Ds - all in stdio on a walking model (sort of a fashion-style shot).
It was very interesting, and soon video from this test shot will be posted.

I am switching. I shoot weddings, so all I need is the A7s for low light and reception photos and the A7II for portraits.
My back hurts from the heavy DSLR's and their lenses.
Plus the EVF is insane. I love it.

It is quite refreshing to see such passion being expressed here on issues that are so important in photography. Something must be going on with the Canon research and development department that is causing the lack in progress. Sony has definitely broken the mold with the A7RII.

Your video accurately reflects my own sentiments. I switched from Nikon to Sony A7II and never looked back. I just got tired of waiting for signs from Nikon that they would get with the (mirrorless) program.

I completely understand your frustrations; I'm right there with you, currently waiting for the mark iv but seems to be the same old and i'll be switching too. canon used to be ahead of the game and now is stuck in the stone age

The problem with canon and nikon is that they got a little too comfortable up there on the top that other companies like Sony started to catch and get past in some ways. Canon and nikon need to wake the hell up.

Great points. I too am a long-time Canon shooter (>20 years) - Sony A7 range is just superior image quality and technology. Especially the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 - fantastic lens. And now they have the G-Master series. It's going to be an interesting few years for sure.

Interesting view point. As a photography amateur, I just switched from Canon to Sony as well because I saw some ground breaking. EVF with the dials benefit a lot. After switching, the only thing I missed is battery, another place for ground breaking.

Sony A7-whatever ≈ 200 photos/charge
Canon 5D-whatever ≈ 1000 photos/charge

This is why mirrors still exists in DSLRs, they don't kill the battery.. :)
