DSLR's are dead, so says basically anyone with a clue and can see the obvious pattern in the camera industry... BUT NOT RICOH sadly... they're DESPERATE to keep DLSR alive!
Canon M6 Mark ii The best Camera For Vlogging? ||CAMERA REVIEW||

Why do DSLRs need a comeback? In numbers they still dominate the market compaired to Mirrorless. Its not like they went anywhere.

Currently shooting on my phone, as I don't have a camera modern enough to want to use it. Would definitely go out and buy a Pentax KP though, if I had the money. But, all my current lenses are Pentax, and you'll have to pry my 90mm macro prime out of my cold, dead hands.

Someone handed me a fat wad of cash I'd be going straight to Mirrorless medium format. Would certainly need to be a fat wad of cash.

Actually GRIII is my current main. Pentax K-1 is my work camera.

I just want something that feels grippy and rugged. I don't care about the mirror. There just isn't a mirrorless camera just yet that feels as good in my hand as a DSLR.
If Nikon releases something that is essentially a D500 without a mirror I'd be so on board :)

Happy photographer with an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mk II here since about two years back.
Been using DSLRs from Nikon since 2007 and tried to find something less bulky, but still at a prosumer level to replace it with. The Micro Four Thirds system is perfect for me and I love how compact and yet powerful my current setup is (although my goal to only buy three lenses failed)! The only real advantage of DSLRs today is battery life, but after getting a USB charger for my OM-D batteries, I won't look back.

Another factor in the camera market shrinking is, ironically, how good cameras have gotten.
Just about any professional end DSLR or mirrorless in the last 10 years still keeps up just fine for still photos, and video is hitting that point as well. Many people especially hobbyists are finding less and less reasons to upgrade.

And here I just bought a DSLR a few months ago, the next one will be mirrorless. I never thought about being able to check lighting etc. in real time with an evf.

My daily drivers are Olympus E-M1 Mark I and E-M5 Mark II, I love mirrorless and I would never go back (fully, maybe get the Pentax K200D for nostalgia when I got into photography). Mirrorless has advantages that DSLRs can never achieve: Eye and Face Detection and Tracking, AI Autofocus and Recognition, , Live View simulation of shutter speeds longer than 1 second, Live Histogram, Waveform, Focus Peaking, Zebras ... these are all tools (and there will probably be more than we haven't thought about yet) that we can use and some might need ... instead of "Imagining" them in our heads Ricoh.

The first full frame mirrorless camera manufacturer to come out with dual card slots, flippy screen and shoot af-c (accurately) 10fps with a huge battery and great ergonomics will be the game changer. I currently shoot Lumix G9 and don’t want anything

Pretty much exactly my reaction when I read that interview. What's stunning me most and making me sad the most, is that this just some represantative, but the very people who are in charge to decide which route Pentax will go...and suddenly you understand why Pentax's marketing is THAT bad. Some people believe that they were just saying this because they've got something in development and are going to join the L-alliance soon and just don't want to give that away just yet.... but I'm not convinced about this, at all.
I'm a happy Pentaxian shooting the K-1 - but if could get any camera, not looking at the price, I'd most probably go with Nikons D850 or Z7 or maybe Panasonics SR1.

Dumped the slr and glass a few years ago, went with a fuji x100f.. loving it

I use the exact camera in your thumbnail the Pentax k70. I've had Pentax Cameras since my film days and I like the compatibility with all my old lenses. Shake reduction is in body which is very nice. I'm at the advanced amateur/prosumer level and it does everything I needed to do. I can't justify spending any more money than I already have on a mirrorless system.

Currently shooting on an Oly EM5M2. The thing I love most about shooting with m43 is the tons of lenses that can be adapted. Though I hate to admit, the sway of the full frame mirrorless is starting to get to me...

I love mirrorless purely for the evf it adds soo much useful information when shooting the only thing I like about a DSLR is being able to see down the lens when it's off but every camera forward for me will be a mirrorless

@blunty I just switched to a canon 6D mainly so I could shoot comparatively with a buddy who got a 5D3 I had and Olympus omd em10 and absolutely loved my mirrorless
If I got a stack of cash I would buy a Sony A7r3!!!

Right now I've got a Canon EOS 2000D with a few old manual lenses my dad used to use when he was about my age. It's my first "bigboy camera" and was quite cheap but still worlds better then my phone. And if I'd suddenly fell into money I'd go for something like a sony A7II, that one looks nice.

Right now I am shooting digital with a OM-D E-M1 and film with a Mamiya 645 Pro and several Olympus OM bodies. My biggest wish for my personal dream camera would be a full frame body by Olympus with the style of the OM-1 or OM-3 Ti / OM-4. It does not need to have interchangable lenses. Maybe with a fixed 35mm or a fixed 50mm lens. I would pay A LOT for such a camera.

Currently shooting on my old Canon 60D, an EOS M (gen 1) and my Pentax Q. If I could shoot anything then I would probably go Panasonic or Sony... I wouldn't mind an M50 so that I could keep using my little M lens collection... BUT what I would really like though... a new Pentax Q... I loved that thing so much.

I have a Nikon D5600, its my first proper camera... it's absolutely perfect for my needs and wasn't too expensive. I don't really know all that much about cameras, but I'm slowly learning more and more as I use my own and research others.
