Solid advice. I approve. If they are in a branch they will be more decorative. They will have a full case around the nest. If you want to see one on a window active and treated I can grab a link.

Hornets chew dried old wood to make a wood pulp and build their hive. That is very similar to paper. We've had a few Bald-faced hornet hives. They are the coolest hornet.

Thanks for the video, I learned that even though it looked like mud to me, the nest was actually thin like paper. Great pic of the insides...

That's a fairly small nest, only one tier of comb, probably founded late in the summer without enough time to build up much before the big winter die-off. Either that or something happened to the queen shortly after founding.

Get an attachment for your hose that shoots a narrow stream 30 feet or more. Hook your hose to your water heater drain, stand back and spray hot water. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and it works every time. If your water heater is hot enough it will kill everything.
