Cherchante, you can take your US passport and visit Europe, Mexico, Japan, Canada, Australia and other countries with no visa. Similarly, people from some of those countries can enter the US without a visa. Mexico is not on the list, however. They need visas to enter lawfully.

Yeah right. We've been trying to bring in a European citizen (no criminal record - he's never even gotten a parking ticket in his life!) for a temporary project and he's been stuck in what they call "Administrative Processing" at the State Department for over a year! And the State Department and the embassy where he interviewed ignore all emails, faxes and letters from us, the applicant and our attorney. The visa process is a perfect encapsulation of what's wrong with the U.S. government

When Chicago wanted to get the Olympics, one big objection for the Olympic Committee was that the US would not give out visas to the foreign families, friends, and fans. Imagine if Canada demanded your fingerprints and made you travel to the Canadian Consulate in Los Angeles to be interviewed in person before you could travel to Canada? How many US citizens would spend tourist dollars in Canada in that case? Funny how this video is 100% English.

Yep, 100% correct. And you've left out how rude and downright sadistic these visa officers are and how the "interview" is more like an interrogation. And good luck if you get a 221(g) and are place in "Administrative Processing" by one of these monsters. Almost a year and a half we've been waiting for someone's "Administrative Processing" to be completed. And the embassy will provide NO information about status.

Interesting. If you post something truthful (which means it's critical) of the State Department, and the visa process in particular, your post will be removed. God forbid the truth gets out about how inefficient and downright cruel the visa process is.
