The crazy thing is SSJ3 Gotenks probably could have defeated Innocent Buu (provided he took the fight seriously and didn't play around)! Goku only intended Gotenks to fight Innocent Buu, as Super Buu didn't even exist and Goku had no idea about Buu's absorption ability cause Shin is bad at his job!

Tbh, while it *is* Goku's fault for holding back against Fat Buu, his desire for his youngest to be a protector of Earth when he is gone (especially since Goten, unlike Gohan, was more interested in fighting) is understandable. If Gotenks wasn't the immaturity tenfold of both fusers and gone SSJ, he could have taken on Buu and won likely. But nobody predicted Super Buu, much less Kid Buu. And it never would have happened all because of two hunters shooting a fucking dog. Must be DIO fanatics or something...
