At 16:41 Wes plays a phrase and is like, ,hmm sounds like the lick". Than proceeds to play a harmonised lick and laughs. Proof that it was a meme even back then.

That piano player that came in after Wes's solo in Blue Monk really didn't seem interested in playing with the band. More like in spite of the band. He played like he had something to prove and it didn't reflect well on him.
