Will I ever read even half the books in this video? Probably not. Did I love this video because Ruby is just so captivating when she tells about the books and stories she loves? Yes!

This channel has partially inspired me to get back into reading! I’m so happy to be more engaged with books than social media. Makes me feel like I’m more present 😊

Since this is your most recent video I hope you do not mind if I comment on something more general. I started watching your videos in October 2023 and moved from current ones to older vlogs. I am a PhD student at the Department of Anglophone Literature and Cultures and your love for literature naturally resonates with me. I was in a slump last year with academic writing turning into a task I dreaded and it didn't really go anywhere, my supervisors weren't satisfied with my texts either. I started to adapt some habits present in your vlogs, particularly shifting the prep work of my research to be more time-consuming yet engaging, installing rituals like candles and an air humidifier and romanticising writing sessions, which I now enjoy much more. I handed in a chapter of my PhD project recently and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. I wanted to express my gratitude to you for the significant part you played in this positive change in my career. Keep up the wonderful work!

I'm so happy you're open to reading more of Clarice Lispector's work! She made me fall in love with Brazilian literature when I was in high school, but she is not everyone's cup of tea. With that said, I must say I find it very difficult to recommend one book, so I'll give you three and you can see which one interests you the most. My absolute favorite book of hers is "Água Viva" many people say this is the book that best shows her essence, it has lots of metaphors, it's very philosophical, and often feels like you're reading poetry. I feel like it's one of those books you can reread multiple times throughout your life and have different thoughts about it. I also recommend "The Hour of the Star" is less full of metaphors and more "realistic", focused on the sad life of the poor protagonist and the society that surrounds her. It's usually used as her introductory book, being a quick and easy read. The opening and the closure of this book are wonderfully written, in my opinion. Last but not least, "The Passion According to G.H" this one will be more or less like the short stories you've read, but ends up being very philosophical, and it's one of her most iconic books! I also have one short story I'd like to recommend, "The Egg and The Chicken", I just find it fascinating haha and there's an interview where she says she doesn't comprehend it very well, there are many essays about it. She was a fascinating writer and woman, once you start to try to understand her, you end up reading her entire work.

Ruby, I want to say I returned from England about a week ago. While we were in London for most of our time there, I ventured to Oxford on the train because I HAD to see Radcliffe Camera in person. I was delighted to have the chance to go inside on the Bodleian Libraries tour. It's stunning! I am so jealous you get to study there! Bravo to you! I have been following you since you were in high school, so I know about your journey to get into Oxford. Happy reading in 2024!

If you're having gut or bowel issues at your age you need to get it checked out asap, don't take an unprescribed pill for them as even if it did work it would likely be just treating the symptoms not the cause. It may well just be minor digestive issues or an intolerance but my friend thought she had mild IBS in her mid-20s and it turned out to be a lot more serious after a colonoscopy, but luckily they caught it early.

What a treat this video is, Ruby. I could listen to you all day talking about books and topics you find joy in. I got "Studies in the History of the Renaissance" for Christmas and am really looking forward to reading it soon. Hope you have a lovely day.

I have had gut issues for more years than I care to admit but recently I’ve made such progress by actually not eating as ‘healthy’. I was eating overnight oats with fruit, chia seeds, nuts etc, then I was always trying to ‘eat the rainbow’ and add lentils etc to my vegan diet. Ive realised that this was all too much for my stomach. I now think of spreading these foods across a couple of weeks rather than daily. Hope this may help.

What beautiful curiosity and passion you have for art, literature and the human experience, Ruby. You remind me that there are more incredible books than I'll ever be able to read, and that's a reassuring thought.

It will probably sound naive or strange but discovering your channel made me so happy. I am feeling really dark and stuck right now and the recent lack of people in my life who understand, who listen or simply of people who don't shallowly look over anything can make me feel very lonely...your passion for what you study and read apparently as great as mine is heartwarming, and it reminded me the pleasure I find in these things I love, especially books, will always be here and come back to me. Thank you for your videos :) I wish for you that roses will grow on your path
