Dear students, today we are going to discuss about the respiration particularly respiration in humans for Class 10.
Respiration is a process by which a living organism releases energy by oxidizing food.
Respiration is of two types:
1. Aerobic Respiration.
2. Anaerobic Respiration.
The various steps in respiration are:
1. Breakdown of glucose inside the cytoplasm into two pyruvic acid molecules.
2. Utilization of pyruvic acid molecules in Krebs cycle to release carbondioxide, water and 38 ATP molecules in aerobic respiration.
However, in microorganisms pyruvic acid is fermented to produce methanol, carbondioxide and 2 ATP molecules in absence of oxygen.
3. In animals , pyruvic acid is fermented into lactic acid and 2 ATP molecules.
