This has been in the game since launch...

We found this in the game as soon as it came out. We had some wild speculations back in the day. Like they had to be opened in a certain order and something would happen...but honestly, it's probably just the remains of a scrapped mechanic.

We may never find out.

Love you guys!

I love that every video of yours includes some form of “why is this here?” There are so many hidden things in the game that we may never find out about, and that’s pretty neat!

My theory is that the side room with the blight floor in the strike was originally some kind of side mechanic where you'd send one player, and you could open the gates once you got to the far side in order to let your fireteam through, but they couldn't figure out how to make the mechanic engaging in something as simple and routine as a strike so they cut it.

Maybe for the same reason that one location has a ton of destructible trees. They were going to have an interactive world and just didn't

Maybe it's part of the puzzle to unlock the final wish

I think these were most likely all throughout the strike, and the devs decided to pull them, so the map designers moved them all there to remove them

There's also unused taken crystals throughout that area if you get there in a certain way. The ghost even has seemingly unrelated dialogue if you scan them, with one of the lines I remember being "What was that?"

Probably a scrapped mechanic like the ball in the fallen saber strike. Would explain as to why the strike is so short lol

They're just gates that clip through the ceiling. If you're OOB above that room you can see them.

By the looks of it they're only there to serve as part of the bars across that side of the room, but an otherwise unused opening functionality was accidently left in. Good thing you can't see where they open unless oob.

There's little reason to have opening doors or gates throughout the vast majority of the game so that's why the functionality of these is unused.

It's a mechanic they wanted to add. Like the little three pronged trap doorway into subways kinda thing, guess they were lazy and just moved it instead of deleting it

I imagine it's some leftover mechanic that was never scrubbed from the game. Maybe an early mission from year one that was cut from the campaign or a heroic quest that involved going back down into the dam.

Something something floodgates but honestly probably just something that didn't matter earlier in development I guess

It has an object that is to interact outside the map in the heist battleground in the moon

My best guess is that they once had the idea to have the player find their own way by opening gates. Seems like they just went with open gates to make it more linear

Literally been wonder what that interact has been since d2 launch

What's behind the door in the dreaming city

It’s like the 10 interactable beta model “ammo creates” on D1 shield brothers… I wish these were like some cod zombies level super Easter Eggs or something

Most likely unused secret quest assets

Theres a random interact in either the moon heist or one of the bunkers (cant remember now) in the rafters of one of the rooms. Not sure what that does either.
