Fuzzy reviews a recent purchase of an "affordable reel" and discusses how and why he feels that you should make sure to invest in a good reel instead of high priced rod for the fisherman on a budget.

I'm totally with you on quality reel, decent rod, can always slap the reel on another rod, when a reel gets messed up it ends a day quick
but man you are a patient dude if you can make a video, smile and only get 4 trips out of any reel👍👍

I totally agree with you! Watched a video yesterday of some guys that bought kids rods from Walmart and were pulling in 4-6lb bass. I just bought a cheap $30 set up from bass pro that even came with a small tackle box for trout. Now I just have to start building up my tackle box!

P.S. Love all the reggae music, keep up the good work and good vibes!

I had the same problem with my Shakspere baitcasting reel, I took it apart cleaned it up and it works perfect now!

I totally agree with you on this! I'm using some older generation shimano spinning reels that would still stand up to one fresh out of the box!

hey fuzzy I've had them do the half ass click too. Just grab the bottom of the button and pull it up. It's just the button not clicking back in. quantum makes a great product and their customer service is unmatched

I use:
Abu Garcia Pro Max reels
Abu Garcia Silver Max reels
LEWS Jason Christie and Hank Parker Signature Series reels, all priced under $100. Never once have I had a problem with any of them. Never once have I ever spent $150- $250 on a reel when these will do the same job, and never will I ever drop that kind of coin on reels that high. I catch a lot of big bass and have never had one take a shit on me. I use Skeet Reese rods, Falcon rods, Abu Garcia Vengeance rods and have no problems. Granted everything is going to fail at some point... it's inevitable. I just don't buy into the hype of anglers that have big sponsors and expect them to push their product, I'm not biting!

best fishing under 20 lb fish for me is cheap ultralight gear. 2-4# mono for up to 10# fish. 6-12# mono for fish up to 20+.
also man i just broke my 20 year old $40 ultralight abu garcia combo. and only because it popped out my back window when i was driving i didnt notice and roll window up on the tip.. doh. but i just started bass fishing 7 months ago and got up to 4 lb fish on that rod before i snapped it. something reliable to me is better then high price. tight lines
