If I were to choose i3 or Celeron, I'd take i3. I had 2 laptops both had a Celeron for 5 and a half years (1st) and 6 months (2nd) and trust me. It ain't fun. How does waiting 5 to 15 minutes just to load Chrome sound like?

Finally decided to go for an octacore intel i5 and was holding back tears at how fast it was. Made me ask myself why I went cheap and suffered? Don't make the same mistake I did, folks.

just upgraded a celeron b980 to i5 3320m.
Yes.. the i5 is 3 months older... but 10nm smaller architecture... and benchmarks show it is 2.5x as powerful. Battery life is improved: Work per watt is for sure better on i5.
built in HD4000 is also better than dedicated gpu (Geforce 610M).

All in all. If you can, get an i5 or or AMD 5800G based system.
Celeron CPU's are "good enough" for some things.. but it is better to have something with more oomph that can do the same work faster and thus more efficient.

I used compaq with celeron last 5 years no problem with windows 98 and it was heaven with all software with best encarta and specially the software name microsoft greeting and photo is supper m

Why still comparing n400? how about n5095 onwards, it is more interesting. Some reviews it was a close comparison, but the budget friendly wins.

I only use my lap to open pdf, use ms office and watch movies
If so is celeron n4020 enough for that
