SpongeBob's Nuclear Radiation Theory is Real

A popular SpongeBob SquarePants theory reveals that SpongeBob, Patrick, and everyone else in Bikini Bottom was impacted by nuclear testing. While we haven't seen anything like that in SpongeBob episodes, The Patrick Star Show has finally answered a few burning questions.

In The Patrick Star Show's new episode, we get to see what what Bikini Bottom looked like in the 1940s. Surprisingly, nuclear tests were real. What does this say about the radioactive SpongeBob fan theory? Is SpongeBob actually a mutant?

I never thought SpongeBob lore would work, but I actually think they did it well 👀

This, on top of the Red Mist Squidward scene, shows how much the crew actually listens to the community

They basically completely confirmed it without directly stating "hey so nuclear testing happened"

It's weird that the fact that Patrick knows how to travel through time from the same method that Squidward used in SB-129 to get out of the future. No, not the can opener room.

The problem with the nuclear theory is that the lore of the show consistently disproves it.
Bikini Bottom simply has a history much older than the nuclear testing. Talking fish with intelligence comparable to humans in the SpongeBob universe date back to the stone age for crying out loud.
Plus the theory wouldn't explain how Sandy is also able to talk since she and her whole family are from Texas which isn't anywhere near Bikini Bottom.

If I had a nickel for everytime nuclear fallout was mentioned in a kids show, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

We know the characters aren’t nuclear due to episodes like Ugh that show evolved fish long before the testing, but the fact there was a whole fake city there is really interesting.

Unfortunate fact: The people of Bikini Atoll who were forced to leave by the US gov haven't been allowed to return home because of how radioactive it has become. In fact the islanders created a flag for the atoll in 1987 that copied the American flag. This symbolism representing that that a great debt is still owed by the US to the Bikinians. This debt being that they got little to *NO* compensation what so ever. Same for the people of Enewetak, a nearby atoll within the Marshall Islands. The US built a concrete dome in Enewetak to deposit radioactive soil, those who worked on it got cancer, and the dome today is deteriorating because it's so old. Which causes the radiation to seep out, leaving the islanders exposed.

Also, the US gov didn't evacuate all the islanders before testing. Those who were on nearby islands had to face "snow" from the fallout of the Castle Bravo test. It took the Gov days to evacuate them. The US gov continues to downplay the effects of nuclear testing on the Marshallese people to this day, and Marshallese citizens in the US are currently fighting for justice. Thankfully more people are realizing the reality of what the country has done to these poor islanders

The only good thing about these SpongeBob spin-offs is that they answer questions that were unanswered in the original

That moment when you realize that Spongebob was the first Fallout cartoon years before Adventure Time

This Theory always had a high possibility to be True so it isn't out of the question.

I'm pretty sure spongebob has had some... nuclear influence

It's amazing what kind of stuff SpongeBob's been able to get away with after all these years. They can metaphorically mention nuclear radiation, but the security system scene from "Just One Bite" has yet to air on American television again in 21 years.

I still dont believe in the theory myself. Although I think the SB team was poking some fun at the theory, but it still has holes.

I remember this theory. It’s disturbing. I can’t believe they actually used it.

@Vailskibum94 your French Narrator impression is top notch

Surprised they did this. I think this actually fully debunks the idea that the nuke caused undersea life to evolve. We see fully evolved military fish leaving the testing site at 1:35 before the nuke went off, meaning the nuke couldn't have caused the evolutions. Pretty interesting stuff.

Oh my god, you’re voice is absolutely PERFECT for narrating.
