ShartimusPrime Biography:

Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor for adult collectors, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

That was way less awkward than last year’s interview.

I was so big on Marvel Legends ever since I was a kid. It’s been a few years since I’ve been big on action figures in general, but this comic con has fully brought me back to collecting! I’m so glad to be back!

On the topic of Odins design, I wish Legends would do that more. I really love when they do their own original design on figures, that is clearly inspired by the source material, but a great culmination.

To the best of my memory, I think they only also did this with the Haslab Sentinel and Galactus but I wish they would do this more. I love that this Odin looks like a definitive Odin but doesn't look like a straight rip from Simonson or Coipel or whatever

So far this year, I have to say that even the Marvel Legends I don't plan on getting, have all been amazing! It's nothing about the figure itself but rather it's just a character I have never really been all that interested in. Great job Marvel Legends team. With a lot of the new releases this year, you can't really tell a difference between them and some of the best artwork from the comics from the last 40 years and that what makes them so great to me.

Wow that oden question was great!! More of that! Would love for them to go in depth with the sources as a new norm. They already do but I want to see them go in depth

Great interview! I liked that you finished on a positive note. I'd say maybe sprinkle a little bit more of that throughout next time? 🙂

Something also that needs to be mentioned is the issue with ab crunches either going One direction all the way forward or all the way back with no in between I feel like a lot of companies make this mistake! And when I mean a lot I mean a lot the torso or disc hinges will be there but they won't be properly made or not have enough clearance and it will lead to literal issues with being able to move things at all at least a saving Grace has been that if the upper torso fails the lower torso ball joint always seems to come and clutch and provide the range that's needed! But still it would be good if both joints worked fully functionally! I wouldn't mention this if this didn't seem like an easy fix there are YouTubers for example like xcorpeo who deserve a shout out for their simplistic modifications that overall fix these problems with the simplest of solutions! Things like just shaving a bit of clearance around the torso or in the ball joint holes making little divots to give the ball joint more clearance providing almost full quality range! Sometimes better than import! For example on one of my favorite mods has to be their iron Man mark one mod which gives this guy much needed improvement in his torso. As well as some of their marvel select mods which hey I hint towards the select team to check them out as well! They were able to do modifications to things like the marvel select hulk and give him clearances that allows even figures like that better range! His techniques although I questioned potential flaws that would need to be tested do work and seem to be pretty flawless! But again that's just my opinion. And my point is if it's such a simple fix for little clearances like this for mods then why not have it Incorporated straight out the box? Torso ranges really need full forwards and full back there has been some amazing figures out there AND I MEAN AMAZING! Some monster and creature figures that I love and lately I've been finding just torso hinges have been designed poorly to say the least. Again thankfully lower torso's to fix these issues a lot of the times but what if it's just a singular upper torso hinge? In cases for specific figures that don't have the double system they don't get that range and they're stuck in movement.

For this reason I feel like I seriously need to recommend that torso's and torso joints get revamped for better range and the best place to even start looking is places like xcorpeo and their channel as I think they've cracked a code for a simple mod that fixes this problem easy! Again I could be wrong but I don't think so here. It's so simplistic yet it offers a simple solution fix that feels sturdy that wouldn't require much retooling.

Either way I hope dragon man has great torso range that's one of the things that scares me the most outside of bad neck range as he is a flying character.

Not to mention the more rubbery gummy plastici Didn't Want to bring up the gummy or plastic issue, I get that companies have their drawbacks and their costs they need to cut to make production but I feel like we're getting some real heavy hitters out here things like literal dragon man remade! I'm just worried that over the long term the stability of the figures won't last if the new plastic formula isn't modified to be stronger. It wasn't but a couple years ago we were getting some figures that had some stronger plastics but with things like the wolverine and saber tooth two pack it's particularly noticeably bad and that's such a good two pack at least the saber tooth is. It sucks that it has to suffer from such a QC issue as rubber bendy syndrome. Also makes me hesitant on stuff I pick up to again I feel like we're getting some heavy hitters here and I feel like dragon man needs to be the best figure it can be and it's already on the track to that quite well. But I feel like these are probably the most two notable issues in modern legends lately that needs some addressing outside of just the neck joint thing which is a good point double ball hinges with enough clearance does make me some great range.

Otherwise I do think I don't have much nitpicks? for the price for the value marvel Legends does offer some good things! If not downright great sometimes! Like everyone else I just want to see this line thrive and continue to do better rather than worse in any way. Not to mention prices have slightly increased. These figures aren't as cheap as I used to be and even on the second hand market getting even more expensive! And not to mention a lot of the new figures are heavy hitters figures you want to stay on your shelf or at least the next 20 years like the toybiz figures, some of which don't have better options out there and Hasbro is the best physical option to date! And my point is these issues aren't just becoming Nit picks anymore as the quality improves as we get things like dragon man that are literally artwork in our hand! I hate to see an artist work wasted by simple flaws that could just be fixed my better quality control I'm going back to the drawing board looking into the community to see what best options fit most.

Tldr: plastics need to be improved to fix the gummy issue as I worry deterioration over time might be a problem, and the last thing you want is such a beautiful figure to just I fade away on you! And torso hinges need a revamp! LOWER TORSOS ARE COMPLETELY FINE! DON'T MODIFY! Upper torso diaphragms are the problem in question and again YouTubers like xcorpeo deserve a shout out for possibly solving a solution to that too for you all.

Hopefully the tips reach Hasbro's ears and we can keep climbing the ladder to make beautiful amazing pieces of plastic for every fan to enjoy. I also want to give a shout out and thank you to not making dragon man a haslab! Even though I still think pulse exclusive is a bad idea retail release would be better I still think it's better than crowd campaign especially given we all know you're probably going to do a certain agree individual with fantasy facial features of the draconian design. You don't need dragon man as a crowdfund because you got something probably better in your pot! And I wish you luck on that too! I will probably be backing that give or take the timing and my savings account.
