I just found your channel. Your break downs are spot on. Just bought the 25 Proto FR. She's definitely a stout board. Loves to be ridden hard and fast. My initial experience is that It is a very locked in board, you've gotta be aware of your edges. Craves amazingly, doesn't like to go slow- performing micro-turns using the boards torsional twist requires a lot of effort. It's hard charging and precise.

I was a bit surprised to see it only got a 7 for carving. The footage of TJ ripping Face of Five at Mammoth at 4:40 made me think it deserved a higher rating.

Looking forward to the Quadruple Camber reviews in a couple years!

I'm riding a Never Summer Proto FR 2021 (i ride NS since 25 years now) and that board is so much fun. I'm not riding it in the park for jumps/ obstacles, but on the slopes and there you can really push it hard. Rides very agressive because of it's stiffness and dampens a lot in rough terrain. Feels always very stable also whem you go very fast. I guess it's not a beginner board because of it's agressiveness and therefore could throw you off when doing incorrect manouvers. Just ordered the new 24/25 board today. 🙂

I love you just send every board through the park LG!

Your reviews are getting much better! Rather than saying everything is great, you break everything down. Hopefully Kevin will start copying this style of review

For those of us that use the metric system: 5'10"=178 cm and 155 lbs=70 kg

I like the proto ultra with shock wave camber. The triple camber feels to locked in. Thanks for the review great job on all your reviews.

Would be awesome if you review free ride boards outside the park and on more severe/steep terrain or powder

I rode a prototype of this board, Porto FR in a 163W, all last season and I can say that the triple camber is almost too locked in and not forgiving at all. there is a very niche group that will enjoy this board

For all-mountain -- freeride 6, 2 165lb 12 shoe(no park at all) would you suggest the Proto fr or the harpoon and in what size?

I've been waiting for this review. I'm tempted by the 166DF (6'3 235 14W Photons) and can get it on sale next weekend. But I'm also tempted by the Skunk Ape II in a 170 UW now that it's C2X. I'm not really a park guy and more of a hard charger. Thoughts?

Do you find 160 too big for 150lb? I am 180lb and just ordered a 156 lol. Too bad they don't offer a 158.
