Thanks Shannon.  Really liked the detail and how you went slow enough and repeated things so it was easy to follow.  Have done a lot of 45 mitre cuts and never knew to do the nail in the top to bring the corner together - relied on lots of caulk. Finally broke down and got a compressor and a brad nailer.  Love it!  Neighbors think I am a contractor when I am a computer guy by trade. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.  Planning on saving some money by doing my own open heart surgery tomorrow so I have to re-watch those vids to get ready...

Man you are awesome. Easy to understand, great pointers on proper measuring and cutting for the correct fit. No one else is as concise as yourself. I have seen your other videos. Very classy presentation. Getting ready to install casings in a 60 year old house
that a contractor messed up. Has a Picasso shape around the doors and the mitered gaps are just huge, they just gooped it with caulk.Now I can redo thanks to you. Keep the videos coming!

For a doorway, set your side casing pieces in position, mark carefully, then cut.  Install.  Then take the top casing piece and lay it upside down on the installed side casings. Mark the outside distance on the top casing at the points it meets the side casings' miters.  Cut and install.  No measuring.  If you cut carefully and accurately (and your door jamb is square), you're done in five minutes.  If you have your saw right by your work area... faster than that.

Thank you and you are welcome. In our defence ( the pros) a lot of us carry a lot of overhead that most people do not think about. Between wages, workers compensation, insurance, tools, machinery, trucks, trailers, buildings and the list goes on and on. I realize some " pros" do inflate their prices more than others but many of us are just trying to make a decent living.i am trying to help those of you that have some skills to save some cash though.
