The fact that she used herself as her test subject. I love that.

not me having dermatitis herpetiformis for my entire life, and not connecting it to my celiacs that ive been diagnosed since i was 6. thanks, youtube, you've taught me more than my goddamn gi doctor had.

okay, editing this since its getting a bit out of hand. several things--

1) i was diagnosed with celiac's at a young age and due to the family situation i was unfortunately born in, my physical well-being was never a priority. im not going to go into detail, but im still struggling with recognizing things about my health that should be ignored, and what shouldnt. this also means that whatever information about my diagnosis ive recived were through my parents and thus filtered, and what i could tell my doctors were also filtered out of fear from my parents.

2) i dont trust google all that much. if i have a basis of understanding what i have (like googling to know i have food poisoning etc), ill google it. otherwise, i WON'T google it! i didnt know it was possible to have a skin rash connected to my celiac in the first place, how was i supposed to google that? "weird skin rash"?

3) my relationship with food is turbulent at best (thanks in part to my parents and how i was raised). yes it was painful and yes im still learning about my body.

and no, im not self-diagnosing off of a youtube video. i see something that i think i have, i research, THEN i take steps to see if this is something to bring up to my dr now. im a full time pharmacy student, im trying to clean up my mental, emotional, and physical messes, and im also maintaining several other hobbies and extracurricular social activities. id appreciate it if you all didnt assume you know me from a short yt comment. that does sting esp since ive been actively making steps to bring myself out of the sheltered, lonely life i was forced into for a long while.

You would think nutrition would be first thing. Not even gastro doctors know nutrition 🙄 very scary !

My daughter moved to The Netherlands where they have a bakery in every little area. She had psoriasis when she lived in Texas now her skin is all clear. She said it is the preservatives we put in all our bread, crackers, chips and cookies. The Dutch don’t allow those chemicals in their products.

As someone currently in medical school and about to finish, she is mostly correct. We get a good amount of information about it but there’s honestly too much to learn in medical school to dive heavily into nutrition. We are taught to refer patients to dietitians. The reason for this, is because everyone’s dietary needs are hyper hyper specific and further, their medications need to be taken into consideration. Fun fact, grapefruit can interact with some medications and kill you. Also, no one uses the food pyramid anymore. I don’t know why that is still a common misconception being perpetuated.

I remember in elementary/middle school my mom would have this constant body pain and brain fog that would make her stay in bed for hours during the day. Eventually she went on an elimination diet (I think she followed a book called "the plan"?) And she ended up being allergic/sensitive to soy, high fructose corn syrup, corn, baking soda, nightshade vegetables, pretty much all grains, and probably some other stuff too. It was a long journey for her to come to a place of health and lots of sacrifices had to be made, but it's been so worth it and she's thriving more now at almost 60 then when she in her 40s

I always get “if you would eat right and exercise you would feel better”. Thats the standard line from the medical drs. Whats eating right when you are allergic to foods

Im a 32 year old, diagnosed with RA when i was 26. I started your lion diet and it's helped me so much so far. I have rheumatoid arthritis, had a hip replacement and have multiple joints that are destroyed from my RA being undiagnosed for years. I truly am so thankful for you sharing everything you do on this.

THIS is the reason I’m going to school for nutrition! Fueling your body with what it specifically needs is so so important to feel 100%

I have a one year old son who very early in his life was having issues with his skin it was dry and flakey. His whole body was basically dandruff. He was so itchy he ripped the skin off his scalp a few times scratching. We finally got him in to see an allergist. They said they don’t usually do testing that young. Turned out he was allergic to gluten, eggs, and dairy. He was getting it through the breast milk even. My wife removed those things from her diet and he has improved drastically. Not always perfect, but so much better. Glad you found something that helped you.

That's exactly how I was diagnosed! The rash! Unfortunately, it wasn't the five or six doctors that I went to over six months. I'm a nurse, my friend was in an NP program and was learning about auto immune diseases. Two nurses, a bottle of red wine and google images diagnosed me where several doctors couldn't. 🤷‍♀️

"food is medicine" - ancient wisdom

My mum is an orthomoleculair therapist which means she heals people by adjusting their diet. Many people look down on what she does and the government labels her as "alternative" and "fraud" but so far she's never had a patient she couldn't cure. Many of the patients that end up in her clinic are people who have tried all medicine available but have not been cured by them yet she is able to cure them. This has lead me to believe that in the medical industry money is more important than people's lives.

Oh, yeah. I had PCOS, gynocologists said the birthday control was the only treatment for it. But then years later I was trying to get pregnant, and I remember reading that esteogen was surpressed by testosterone and that testosterone had a connection with insulin. And sure enough, I researched the subject and it was indeed correct. So I started thinking: if I eat low carb, the sugar would get released slower, my insulin would get lower so would my testosterone levels and by default my estrogen levels would go up and that hormone that tells women to release an eg would trigger ovulation. Sure enough - 3 moths in to the diet I was pregnant!! Without me doing the research myself I never would have had my beautiful fun loving daughter in my life 🙏 All research should be available to everyone :)

I’ve been sick and bloated since I was a toddler now I’m in my 40’s. Most all foods makes my body bloat, heat up and just overall unwell feeling. Food supply in America is awful!! & I’m going to try this for a week and record symptoms if any! Thank you Mikhailah!!

I work in vet med, and it's honestly scary how thorough they are with sick animals.

Dogs would come in with itchy skin and the first thing we would ask, "do you give them chicken?" Cat comes in with bad teeth, "do they get enough wet food at home?"

We ALWAYS start with the diet because nutrition is SO essential to cell function.

Mikhalia,
Thanks for addressing this. One of my greatest frustrations as a colon cancer survivor is the lack of knowledge around food and how my body absorbs nutrients. I have listened to many of your podcasts where you address the role food plays in the existence and proliferation of disease. I continue to experience GI issues that are debilitating. At this time, I’m unable to afford to try the beef centric diet, but appreciate you spreading awareness. When I eat meat, my gut health improves along with absorption of nutrients, which lead to improved sleep and therefore improved daily functioning.
Please, keep sharing your story!

Everybody's bodily chemistry is so wildly different that it's so extremely difficult to find out the exact diet that's best for your body's peak health.
