What bike tires do you have on your bike? 🚴‍♀️

I use a Gravel bike (Specialized Diverge), for my daily training, that I changed the crank and gears on to match my race bikes, that way I can run bigger tyres (38c), for grip in the winter and 28c in the summer.
The race bikes I run on 25c (both S-Works Shivs & S-Works tarmac, and the Allez).
All on tubeless.
I love the grip I get in winter months from the bigger tyres at lower pressure, and being a Gravel bike, I don’t mind getting it dirty as much, not to mention it can take a bit more punishment.

I just picked 3 weeks ago Vittoria Control 25c Tires for my TT bike, as the tires are just over a year old and I was looking to upgrade. Went with these over the GP 5000s, as I wanted something a bit more durable; who knows when racing will continue. If the races (IMCA and IMAZ) are confirmed, I switch out to GP 5000s a few weeks before. I’ve theoretically got 2 IMs this year, so lots of riding. On my road bike I’ve got 30c tires, planning on getting a second wheel set and throwing on Vittoria Control 25c or 28c. The set now I’ll fit with Gravel/Hybrid Tires in 32c, and I can swap the wheels based on the ride.

Training: Always the largest tire size and entry-level category. Comfort wins :)
Competition: Premium tires with 25mm at the front and 28mm at the rear

I have 5 wheels. 1 with a trainer tire for the smart trainer, a cheap set of wheels with Continental Gatorskins for outdoor training, and a slightly better set of wheels with Continental GP5000, which I only break out for race day.

I still use 23mm tires on 17mm inner width rim on road bike.

Tread isn’t for grip on a road tyre. Tread is for displacing water. Think of a GP car slick tyres in the dry tread in the wet. The more rubber touching the road the more friction converting your pedal stroke into forward movement

Really helpful and now have a list of options. You mention turbo trainer tyres, is their one which you would suggest to people?

25c GP5000 all year long, training, group rides, give me great confidence. Next spring gonna change the back wheel tire to a 28c, can't wait to see how that works.

I imagine it is tyre dependent, but how far out before a race should I put on race-specific tyres? I'm not very handy and am trying to limit the amount of tread changing I would like to do ;o).

Staggered wheels on bikes, brave new world.

One thing I found hard to find out is whether a certain tire is fit for my hookless rims. Seems most of them are not? (Standard Bontrager wheels on a Trek bike). Any advice for good tires for hookless rims?

I'm going to have to watch this again. It seems strange that the tread doesn't affect the grip, but it does affect the rolling
