Thank you!
You saved me a lot of money with this video!
Don't scrape or wash!
Roll out a layer of fresh complimentary colored paint, place and massage your paper, then go do something for a few hours while it dries.
Slowly remove the dried paper and watch all the pretty grungy layers come up with it.
I learned that awesome tip from a Denise Lush video. 😊

I would love to see a side by side comparison of the gelli plate, gel press, and rollerball plates.
So far I only own gelpress because it is cheapest, but I would like to see if the other brands are better.

I like what you did with both plates. I myself am not interested in trying either plate or technique, but I like to watch what other people do with their creativity. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks much for the info!! I, myself, went with the DIY version gelatin, glycerine, water & sugar. I leave it in the (perfect) 12x12 (microwaveable) plastic plate I made it in-covered with plastic wrap. Over a month, still in good shape! If it gets damaged I can just microwave it, melt it and let it solidify. Perfect. Also, any size you want! I'm going to make one of the cute smaller ones to "take on the go"! Again Jenny, I LOVE your channel!! One of my (two) favs!!!! My other is Lindsay W. the Frugal Crafter!

I am really glad I ran across this before I unpackaged my Stampendous gelli plate. I will return it and buy the better one. I am not a person that wants to scrape paint off!! I LOVE all the videos you do for us and realllly appreciate it!! Thank oh!

@Doreen Marchetti - the packing tape release technique is one that we have not successfully accomplished on the Creative Palette. Possibly the Gelli plate coating of mineral oil allows the paint to dry on the surface but be held above the surface of the plate. It's a neat technique.  Just lightly misting your paints with rubbing alcohol (or hand sanitizer) and letting it set for a second or two will allow you to pull all the ink off the Creative Palette in many ghost prints.

Enjoyed the presentation. I have some people who insist they have something that is every bit as good as another product and people get suckered into buying them for the wrong purpose. Good to see a side by side comparison so you can tell if you really are purchasing what you want. Maybe a mono printing side by side would give the nod to the stampendous plate as that is what it was created for

What a welcome comparison of products. I like Danielle's comment below, and also the Stampendous post. I have the set of two smaller Stampendous plates, and this explains the results I'm getting. I'm adding this video to my favorite teacher playlist. And will purchase the larger gelli arts plate. Thanks again.

I actually have both plates.. Today I was using the Stampendous plate for the first time to show my granddaughter how awesome this Gelli printing is.. I couldn't understand why we were having such bad luck with things I had done just fine in the past with the Gelli plate.. Now after watching your comparison video I can see it was the plate and not just me!!

okay, so I just played around with the Stampendous plate again.Only this time I laid down a coating of Slow Dry Blending Gel Medium before applying paint. It made a huge difference in the way the paint came up. It's still not what I hoped for, but at least I managed 3 decent prints out of about a dozen.

Thanks so much for sharing this comparison. Our Creative Palette is not intended to be a gelatin printing plate. It is intended for monoprinting, but not for all the techniques that Gelli can do. It is made from the same material that flexographic printing plates use, with which almost all packaging and labeling in the world are printed. Our plate works for stencils using different tools, like a foam brayer. It is intended for easy portability (such as taking several of them to classes), lightweight durability, and the ability to store it in any position. It was also designed for a specific market at the request of some of our major customers. It's not intended to replace the Gelli plate in its market. The Gelli plate is manufactured and coated with mineral oil, the Creative Palette is not. You can achieve a wetter working surface, pulling many, many ghost prints with an extender. We are sorry you did not have success with this. Hopefully your viewers will get an opportunity to visit our YouTube channel and see some of the things the Creative Palette does really well.

Lindsay (the frugal crafter) has a fantastic video on her channel explaining how to make your own reusable gelli plate!
Great comparison, I'm not a "printer" but it was so interesting!!

This was a very helpful video. I have seen the Gelli Arts and thought of buying but but now I know if I buy one it will be this one. Thanks Jenny.

Honestly, I have all three: home-made gelatin plate ($12.00) The Gelli Plate ($60.00) and The Creative Palette by Stampendous(25.00). THE HOMEMADE GELATIN PLATE IS THE BEST!!! It blows the other two out of the water! The other two are not in the same LEAGUE as my homemade, cheap gelatin plate...I can't even really describe how much better it is, it's just incredible! Better at regular brayer painting, stencils, impressions, drips, better at anything you can imagine to throw at a gelatin plate. Now, I hear over n over people say the homemade gelatin plat isn't permanent, well, please don't tell my two year old gelatin plate that! I believe they ARE permanent: they're even BETTER THAN PERMANENT: THEY CAN BE REMELTED AND POURED AGAIN AND AGAIN!!! Say you get a knick in the gelatin, and you don't want that impression on your prints, just rip it apart into pieces and put into a microwave safe bowl, throw into the microwave for a bit until it melts (couple minutes) and you can pour it again into a any shape you desire. I remelted mine by leaving it on my heater by accident, lol. They're SO much cheaper than their overpriced, underperforming twins. I can't believe how ridiculous the prices on Gelli plate. The homemade gelatin plate is just so much more squishy than Gelli and Creative Pallet, and that allows it to give much better and sharp images thru stencils and so much less white spots where paint didn't adhere to paper. I made a gelatin plate first, THEN bought the Gelli and Creative Pallet, unfortunately! What a waste of $$money$$ those last two were! MY CRAFTY SISTERS and. BROTHERS: PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND MAKE YOUR OWN GELATIN PRINTING PLATE, CONTACT ME AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE RECIPE FOR A PERMANENT GELATIN PLATE YOU WILL LOVE. (It's super easy and cheap!)

Thank you so much Jenny. That’s so useful and helpful. I have the Gelli Arts Plate, so I’m so glad I do.

Can you lift the dried paint on the Stampendous plate with packing tape, and get a cool print also?

Thank you for the informative video! I really like Stamendous products but already have a Gelli Arts plate and am very happy with how it works - have considered getting or making ones in other sizes though. Looking forward to the homemade gelatin comparison!

Thank you for your video. I wish I had seen this video BEFORE I tried geli printing for the first time today with my Stampendous plate. I thought it WAS a gelli plate made by a different company. It has no bounce to it. Paint didn’t lift or stuck on the plate and tore peeling off. I regret buying it as that’s not what I thought I was buying. I wish I hadn’t opened the package as I would have returned it. I thought they were all the same. I am very disappointed as I was looking forward to beautiful gelli printing results. I will follow some of the tips Stampendous suggested to others.

Thanks for the comparison!  This explains why the Creative Palette was on clearance for 75% off at Michaels.  Think I will pass and use my homemade gelatin plate.

I made the homemade version, and I have a caveat to share, DONT add sugar, it makes it too sticky and the paint won't lay on the gelatin surface nicely. Mine has lasted months and months, but I live in a cold dry climate, that could be the reason. As for the comparison, I agree with the stampendous rep, each have their own uses, thanks for doing the video, it helps people to make an informed choice about where to spend their crafting dollars.
