New Gelli Plate Comparison Gelelf

Today I am comparing the new Gelelf printing plates I bought on Temu. Let’s just say that I will be sticking to the tried and true Gel Press and Gelli Arts plates. But the Gelelf plates are a bit cheaper.

***While looking at the website for Gelelf, I noticed that either the website is poorly maintained, or that the company may be in trouble. There were many items unavailable, and they had the price listed for the 8 x 10 as over $220!! I put the link for Temu down below, but I am not a fan of these plates.

You're lucky to have been able to pull the plastic sheet without any damages! I have Gellif round and the set of 3 little ones. I was very careful peeling the plastic sheet while spraying water, but even like that it pulled a big chunk from the center of the plate. So, I tried the other side, and it was also damaged on the edge. Unfortunately, I could not send it back because it took me more than 90 days to use the plate.
I lived in Texas the whole 90's, Houston, Sealy and Brenham. I've been in Corpus Christi twice on the way to SP Island, just good times. I live in Switzerland now, for 20 years, but the most extraordinary parte of my life I lived in Texas! 💞

I favor the Gel Press and Gelli Arts and mostly resist buying anything from Temu. Thanks for the demo Tricia. Exciting to watch you use the stencils from the designers featured in PM Artist Studio.

I also bought a Gelelf plate from Temu. I have found it works well. My other plates are all Geli Arts. Time will be the real test …. Where are you in Texas? We lived in Mason for 20 years and just recently sold. Love Texas and will always remain a sweet spot in my heart. What is the black paper? I can’t catch it on the video🙃

Hello Ms. Tricia, I have a Gelelf and a Gel press. I found the Gelelf printed better out of the package while the Gel press took longer to break-in for the paper not to stick and tear. After a couple of weeks they both were on an even keel. The acetate sheet on the Gelelf resisted a little, but (wow) not what you experienced. Thanks for the review and demo.

Thank you for your honest review I ordered a 16 x 20 but will be returning as soon as it arrives. I think you’re right spending a couple more dollars to get something that’s built a little better makes more sense. Thank you again.

That is good to know. I was thinking of getting a couple but not now. Thank you so much for sharing.

Hi Tricia, I recently got a GelElf 6x6 from Amazon, and had a terrible time getting the acetate sheets off both sides. I swear it left marks on the plate. And, it was so sticky ( and still is) - even after I washed it in Murphy's and luke warm water, and a while later in Dawn/warm water. Still super sticky and makes pulling cardstock print difficult. Also, using craft paint, the surface tension w the thin paint begins to separate almost immediately. I pulled using mainly Golden and Amsterdam paints, doing botanicals, and stencils, after 25+ prints, the plate is still super sticky.
For my money, I'll stick with Gelli Arts or Gel Press, thank you. Glad it was not just me experiencing this.

Never had any issues with any of the GelElf plates I bought on Amazon. They work great.

I bought my set of 3 small shapes from Gelelf and I didn't have the problem pulling off the plastic and they are not sticky. I also live in Australia so it didn't have so far to travel from China. So sorry for your bad luck with yours. Normally I use Gelli Arts as Gel Press give off a smell that triggers my asthma so I can't use them. Had to give mine away. Gelelf don't have that problem so they are a winner for me. xoxo

I got mine from Temu with no problems, no stickiness. Where do you live? What’s the weather like? Where did you store it?

That’s weird that the plastic won’t come off. I did not have that issue with mine, however, I got mine from Gelelf and not TEMU. Maybe that makes a difference. Thanks for sharing. 😍

What is that black paper that you used if you wouldn’t mind sharing?

Maybe put it in water or read the instructions 😁

I found gelelf to be the most expensive.

I won’t be getting anything off Temu given all the suspicious stuff with products from there.
