Hi Dave, could not agree more I have my Victorinox Minichamp since 2012 paid $42 and I use it every day. Absolutely awesome EDC best value for money spent. For flashlight I use my HTC phone. My EDC awesome watch is CASIO GA-100-1A2 G-SHOCK black/blue. I am not electronic engineer but I am electronics technician and I am glad that you have same EDC stuff. Everybody should carry around a flashlight and a multitool. Over the past year or so I've been buying inexpensive multitools and/or keychain flashlights for my friends' birthdays. The initial response is sometimes a bit tepid but pretty much everybody has made use of my gifts at least a few times. You never know how useful this stuff is till you start carrying it around!

I also carry a pocket multi tool with me constantly.
I've searched the market for a while, and I have found the best small multi tool for electronics engineers there is!
The Leatherman Squirt E4! It's tiny, very good quality and it's designed for electronics engineers.

If you take the cap of a white or translucent chap-stick tube, it will fit perfectly on the top of the light and act as a diffuser or "candle mode"

Nice review Dave! $42 is pretty good also as dealextreme have them for $US50.
Gotta get me a Victorinox also. Haven't yet gotten around to it yet.
BTW, at the higher end of LED output I've just found one for a mate's pushie.
SSC-P7 + 2 * XP-E 1400 lumen Headlamp - 1400 probably overstated though.

i personally prefer the leatherman-type multitools to the pocketknife type but I'll admit that the pen dealy is pretty neat.

"knives with folding blades, like Swiss Army knives, are not illegal as long as the blade is three inches long (7.62 cm) or less" - From direct.gov. That non locking (slip joint) and under 7.62cm thing is what makes them legal. The only exception is if you use it in an 'offensive way' in which it becomes illegal again.

I always carry a victorinox deluxe tinker with me, as it has both the scissors and pliers in a small size.

lol my edc knife is a custom 6 inch latchless balisong. double edged, serrated one side straight on the other. Instead of a latch, the handles have steel spikes from a seatbelt cutter.

Almost all Swiss Army Knives are UK legal as they're slipjoint folders with a blade length under 72mm. You can take it anywhere you like without any reason besides wanting to take it.

Now that you've had a chance to use the flash light for a while... what kind of typical run times are you getting with Alkaline, NiMH, Lithium batteries under normal use?

I also carry a Victorinox knife called a "Farmer". I love it. It's a little special in that it has red Alox side covers. (I tried to post a link to pictures of it but can seem to)
