The Chosen one, Anakin Skywalker, who eventually became Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, is the most tragic character of the Star Wars saga, as his life is filled with love and loss, from Padme, to his own Mother. All of which ending up leading him down the dark side and away from the Jedi Order. We see this across the Star Wars films, from The Phantom Menace, all of the way to Revenge of the Sith, and beyond. This is excellent. Anakin really is such a complex and tragic character. I sympathize with him a great deal. His attachment, the inability to let go because of loss, was his downfall. And his choices caused him years of guilt, remorse, anger and pain. What he wanted to prevent ends up happening because of him. And he felt like living a life in pain and suffering as Vader is what he deserved. Up until Luke showed him there was still hope for his father, he initially said it was too late for him but would later selflessly saving his son‘s life at the expense of his own.

So, He
Left his mother in slavery
Had a platonic love with the girl who he loved
Had enormous expectation that crushed him as the chosen one
his mother died before him
Lost his arm in battle
Had a padawan
Lost mates in the war
Saw his future and even with his memories being deleted, he still had it unconsiously
His padawan left the order that was wrong and was torturing him mentally
Searching to protect his now wife he betrayed his friends.
His master and friend cut his arm, legs and used the floor is lava technique.
his wife died, that for him implicated that his children also did.
Had to live inside of a machine that is physically painful for him, knowing that he would never have the power he would have had.
Became the slave and killing machine of the emperor and his "master".
Confronted his son and cut his arm off.
Saw his son again and after he killed the emperor, it was the first time he was the free, while he was dead.

The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker truly is a modern mythology for our time, that rivals that of the ancient tragedies of Greek mythology.

The fact that you actually UNDERSTAND attatchments and the way in which they led to his downfall without being something bad which the Jedi should have prohibited us so amazing to me because so many people don’t get it. I loved this whole video!

i often wonder if anakin doesnt fall in love does he not turn to the darkside ? the only woman he had in his life was his mother, leaving her at the early age he did wouldve scared him but he had alot of male influencers i his life yoda, obi wan etc, but meeting padme and falling in love seemed to create that fear of loss wich in turn led to the fall inside himself. i always see the obi wan vader scenes and wished they had told obi wan to talk to vader more to try and get to anakin to see the light, maybe offer him help etc. i dont look at vader the way we all did in the beginning anymore, i just see a young man with so much frustration and anger, society failed him and i suppose you could say the jedi did to?
