Prunus Bonsai, Part 2

Part 2 of my Prunus bonsai. This tree was dug up form the garden in 2017. It was left to grow in a large pot until spring 2019 where it was trunk chopped and put in a smaller pot so it could be shipped. This year i have repotted it back into a larger and also tried to correct a branch with a terrible right angle by cutting a wedge and straightening it out. For now it will be allowed to grow freely to allow it to thicken.

Next career...plastic surgeon. Lol. I cant believe you freaking pulled that off. Well done broski. The leaves grew out considerably smaller and I like the different shades of color. Cheers 😎🍺🍺

Gotta give it to Harry...he knows his shit! I gotta admit I wasn’t completely out off by the initial situation. I bet if that were left to grow for, well...ever, I bet it would’ve blended. But then again, what the hell do I know. So cool that it worked out, love a good successful experiment!

At a guess I'm thinking that is a Black Cherry Plum tree (Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra')

one drw back to doing interventions we see oyjrts perform successfully is thry come with issues not always talked about when someone wants to show their skills amd talent. in making those cuts the trunk now will forever have a weak spot. Some time at a later date when you mau nhave a lot of work put into the tree you may do a little work that most trees can handle fine but for a second we forget about that thing we did and " snap" there goes the entire developed top half or third of a beloved boinsai, in the time it too to demonstrate the bends to completion you could have grown a new second leader that would help keep taper in check long term. i did an approach graft on a moderate size chinese pistachio mostly just to practice. i drilled a hole and fed the graft through the hole. in the end the pot fell over six month into the project and broke the branch. some time later i was working on the tree oblivious to the impact drilling a small hole had on thje inregrity of the trunk. now its a very short tree with no branch growing anywhere close to where it snapped. these interventions do heal but they leave areas of potential werakness for yeatrs and sometimes for ever. like a grafted tree that developes a delayed graft failure. good video and im glad you could straighten the tree. looks much better. thank you, Mats H
