Kinda reminds me of the 5 axis machines we had at B & W in Barberton, Ohio back in the 80’s, but B & W’s were much, much bigger. They built nuclear steam generators for the Navy. We had some with nutating heads and contour cutting (“U” heads). I still don’t see too many of these around. The Ford plant up in Cleveland used to have a “U” head on their large 5 axis mill for molds. You could cut a reverse taper (or contour) in a bore with a “U” head. Almost every shop I ever worked at at some unusual machine that no one else had, and it’s job was specific to the product they built. The more shops you worked at, the more you were exposed to the exotic equipment. I enjoyed it. Soaked it all up like a sponge.

This thing is nuts. I’m not even a machinist but I love his attitude. Always positive and there’s no limit to his imagination. Always looking to go bigger and take everything to the next level.

What an incredibly powerful machine. Titan's breakdown of the specs got us excited to see some chips fly!

Man Titan, your passion for this work is awesome to see! Wish you would’ve been around when we were developing the 5-spindle profilers at Cincinnati, and working with Kennametal when those Harvi U8X mills were also in development. First time we did the “bobsled” cut in 6Al4v with all 5-spindles…it was awesome! I’ll remember those times forever! Thanks for doing what you’re doing!

Hi, what a machine. Such a high RPM for a large machine. As I said in one of my earlier emails I worked for Seco Tools here in New Zealand and I understand the difference in the range of milling holders. You mentioned a BT taper with double contact (Big Plus I think it was called) but they are not as good as HSK. The problem is when the machine operates at high RPM the spindle grows slightly and rigidity can be lost. The HSK being hollow grows with the spindle and maintains double contact across the range of RPM. You may like to cover this in one of your very explicit videos in the future. Cheers Ian

So. I’ve ran machines with 400 inch travel. I spent four years at Westinghouse working on Turbine motors. Now I’m 76 and make the best big wood tops in the World. Life is Good. Nice Machine.

Titan kissing the spindle looked a little uh… interesting. Lmao. Anyways this is the most INSANE machine I have ever seen. And my shop has horizontal Matsuras with 200+ tools. This thing takes the cake

Lovin y’all’s videos!!! Very informative about 3 weeks ago just started working at a company learning to rebuild spindles……been doing hvac for 9 years before so it’s very much new to me and tons and tons of new information im trying to learn but so far it’s awesome…. And sometimes it seems overwhelming seeing that im 31 and starting at the very bottom again pretty much knowing nothing about the spindle world. Keep up yalls great work with the videos!!
