Bard, I would love to hear more about fixed pricing and cost plus. I have been in the business as a project manager for years but I’ve been on my own for over a year now and we are taking on new home builds as a GC, I just received my class A contractors license not long ago. And I’m am back in froth on how to charge on the bigger builds. Would love to hear from you on the pros and cons to both. Thanks for the videos keep up the good work.

I’m definitely going to have to lean on u sir in 2yrs. We’re going to be moving farther away from the area we live now. Just found out our golf course for the neighborhood has been sold for years and it’s all turning into homes. They said 550homes. On the other side of the freeway from us they’ve begun putting in streets for a massive new community and Chevron is building a massive complex as well in the area. Too much traffic plus we want to our forever home the way we want. Wish we could take our bathroom with us but we will make sure the builder has built one before. We will definitely have to run things by u so we’re not getting screwed. Only thing that’s a plus. The price of my house has nearly tripled since I bought it so that’s good. Talk soon.

Thanks Brad, this is very timely! My wife and I are thinking of building a custom rambler and are talking to a few builders. My wife is being very specific about the floor plan, but so far we've been starting with plans they already have, which all have things she doesn't like.

It's a more complicated process than I thought. We did our current home with a semi custom with limited floor plans and made a lot of sacrifices including 2 stories, and I quickly realized why I wanted a rambler to start with.

We're being patient and trying to be thorough, but at least I think balanced beige will be the color! Thanks for the videos, they are very helpful 🙏

Great advice on this video. I'm a drafter and homeowners have come to me many times wanting plans done but also want to know what it costs to build the project. I have absolutely no idea what the current building costs are. I've always recommended for them to go find a builder and then I will help them.
