Creep VS The Air That I Breathe | Moon Loungers Acoustic

Have you ever noticed that the chords used in Creep by Radiohead are strikingly similar to the chords in The Air That I breathe by The Hollies? When Steve Groves of the Moon Loungers noticed this, he set about fusing the two songs together, with the above video being the final result.

Radiohead actually pay royalties to The Hollies for their use of this classic chord sequence, but if you did have any further doubts this music video should lay them to rest.

This is why the Hollies won a legal settlement with Radiohead. Radiohead admitted that Air That I Breathe was unintentionally the an inspiration for Creep. They settled for a portion of the royalties and were also awarded given writing credits on Creep for Hammond and Hazlewood. Anyone who grew up in the 60s - 70s knew Air That I Breathe well because it got major radio airplay in the early 70s.

That why so many people made the connection immediately when hearing Creep for the first time. You’d have to be a zombie not to catch the similarity. I always knew that the two could be seamlessly put together, but this is the first time I have heard anyone actually record a mashup. They did an excellent job bringing these two classic songs together. Great job guys!

Now I don’t have to do it. I had often thought about doing a medley of these two songs, which is why I was searching for such a thing when I came across this. If no one else had done it, I was going to do it. I’m glad you guys did this because I seriously doubt my version could have been nearly as good as this is.
