Regarding your nut and bolt build:

Kurt Vonnegut:
“When I was 15, I spent a month working on an archeological dig. I was talking to one of the archeologists one day during our lunch break and he asked those kinds of “getting to know you” questions you ask young people: Do you play sports? What’s your favorite subject? And I told him, no I don’t play any sports. I do theater, I’m in choir, I play the violin and piano, I used to take art classes.
And he went WOW. That’s amazing! And I said, “Oh no, but I’m not any good at ANY of them.”
And he said something then that I will never forget and which absolutely blew my mind because no one had ever said anything like it to me before: “I don’t think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you’ve got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them.”
And that honestly changed my life. Because I went from a failure, someone who hadn’t been talented enough at anything to excel, to someone who did things because I enjoyed them. I had been raised in such an achievement-oriented environment, so inundated with the myth of Talent, that I thought it was only worth doing things if you could “Win” at them.”

The crazy amount of videos being pumped out by Adam this year has really been a treat. It has helped in getting your mind off things for a while just watching Adam tinker in the shop. I find it super relaxing to watch. It also felt much more personal with just Adam and his phone in the cave. I will miss it once things go back to normal.

Thanks for all the hard work this year, Adam, I think it has meant more to people than you will ever know.

Thank you for showing and sharing your human side, Adam.

Adam remembered you said back on Mythbusters "Failure is always an option". The unsaid part is what you do with that failure, do you hide in a corner and cry or stand tall admit you screwed up and learn from it.

Watching you "mess up" gives us the confidence that it's ok to "mess up", and then determination to work through it. Your channel is the best out there for builders and hackers like us.

I am a widow and therefore a single mom of a kid with autism. I started watching out of interest but also noise around my house (hope that makes sense). My son very much thinks like an engineer and fascinated learning how movies are made. We started watching together after I showed him the lego sorting project. Thank you! And thank you for showing yourself as human.

The Mirror Demerit Badge: for when you've made the same side twice instead of a left- and right-hand sides.

Adam, you make the world a better place. Your honesty, your caring, your joys, sorrows, happiness, sadness, your giving of yourself to us all has made this year bearable. You let us all know we were not alone. Thank you.

I'm only 1 of 5.3 million subscribers to this channel, but I so appreciate being able to hang with Adam via YouTube. I spent SO many cool hours watching Mythbusters with my sons and discussing science. Just wonderful!

Why the giant nut/bolt was my favorite episode of the year: When someone as experienced and well equipped makes a mistake, it gives the rest of us hope. We identify, we see that the mistakes we make are part of the process, and we get inspiration to fix them and continue moving forward.

I know 2020 has been a hard time for many, but i really loved the smaller Videos Adam made this year. Altough more simplistic, they where much more human and pleasant to watch.
Have wonderful holidays and stay safe everyone!

The brass nut and bolt segment sums up why I love Adam. Thank you for making so much content and caring about your viewers, you have quite literally made this pandemic easier to tolerate for me

Adam,
Your pure joy in your builds is a big part of your success but it helps us mere mortal makers learn when you make mistakes as well.
You are not only sharing your builds but teaching the next generation of builders that not everything is a success on the first try.

It's hard to describe, Adam, how comforting and encouraging your honesty is. And why that is, bar none, what so many of us fans appreciate about you and keep coming back for. It's not ginned-up dark storms made by reality show producers. And it's not the sort of saccharine faux-vulnerability that YouTubers have to work at to keep running up the clicks. It's facing the hurdles of life with integrity about the bruises and, like you said, correcting defeat in service to taking care of each other.

Thank you for the lighthouse you continue to maintain.

ADAM!
Thanks for the recognition on my unyielding comments regarding your eye protection, and lack thereof.
It's like you're talking directly to me!
I feel starstruck!

Showing and discussing mistakes and especially the negative feelings that those mistakes bring is one of the reasons why we watch. It makes you, Adam, more human and closer to other makers (especially young ones) out in the world. Youtube is full of makers who make it seem like they are perfection incarnate. And for someone interesting in making that is to be aspired to for sure but it is intimidating and disheartening when your creating doesnt come out as good. You set an example of "if you mess up push forward and fix it or start again, though never give up." (With the exception of the Luke Lightsaber build. LOL)

In the crazy year that has been 2020, I found myself visiting the Tested Youtube channel multiple times a week. Thank you and the entire Tested team for giving us viewers an escape if only for the length of each video. Greatly appreciated. Build on good Sir.

one thing that I don't think people hear enough especially young people starting out in a field/hobby/project is your mythbusters motto. " Failure is always an option." so many shows/channels/teachers/etc focus on the finished product, the perfect example or the best performance that it sets unreal expectations. people need to hear more that "hey, your first attempt is going to suck. and so is you second one, and that's great!" you learn from doing it wrong. Keep up the good work showing us all that things do not always work out in the real world and that we just need to keep at it. Love the channel. Love your honesty. Love all you tested crew. And yeah, those safety goggles are really comfortable. got a set for home and work. will be buying more as spares.
