Steam Hardware Survey: 4K: less than 4%, 1440p: less than 19%, 1080p: 58%. What the heck are you talking about Jason. You make it sound like 4K is skyrocketing, and 1440p is mainstream?

1440p is going to live on for a long time. Many gamers are still on 1080p and that's perfectly fine. 4k will become mainstream when it's not $400 for a 27" monitor

The overwhelming majority of people would rather play at a higher framerate than a higher (than necessary) resolution, so I think 1440p is safe for the foreseeable future. 4k won't become mainstream until mid-range GPUs are capable of maintaining 100+ FPS at those resolutions.

Lots of people are still gaming at 1080p, simply due to the fact that they can't afford a $1, 000+ GPU. And there's nothing wrong with gaming at 1080 or 1440.

1440p isn’t dying, 1080p is. Right now it’s like when 720p was being phased out for 1080p, and 1440p was the highest standard. But 1080p wasn’t dying. Not by a long shot

Why? Moving forward for the foreseeable future as GPU's get more powerful I'm going to be able to afford to play at a great looking resolution, 1440p, and do it a lot cheaper then i can today. I will be able to buy the lowest end of GPU and enjoy my games in a resolution that will remain looking fantastic for a long time. 4k is nice and no ones arguing that, but not as much of a difference from 4k to justify the extra cost. The 5090 will ne a powerful card but it will also come at a very high price. In our current environment, people are struggling to buy groceries. They aren't going to be rushing out to buy a new GPU when they are counting pennies.

I dropped from 4k back to 2k and love it. Easier to run, better temps and less noise! I will potentially go back to 4k when things advance further but for now I don't miss it

My 1440p OLED 240hz is amazing. No need to play at 4k at all.

So if you want a card with large vram you can pretty much expect to wait for 5090 prices stabilise in early - Mid 2025.

AMD closely relates to the opinion about 1440p and 4K. If NVIDIA continues to place the price onto the consumer, I think 1440p and 1080p will continue to be here for a while
