You Are the Salt of the Earth - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

Friends, we are reading from the marvelous Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. This week, we hear Jesus compare his disciples to three things: the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and a city set on a mountain. What do all three of these things have in common? They do not exist for themselves; rather, they exist for something else. How is your Christianity impacting the world around you—making it better and getting in the way of evil and wickedness?

I stay in a profession that is dominated by WOKE ideology because I feel it's my "calling" to shed light in the darkness. It's a part-time endeavour. I dont get much financial reward for it, which drives my husband insane. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I teach children to "treat others how they wish to be treated, " to take responsibility for their own actions, to show kindness to others, not disdain. I try to shine my light where the devil is preying on our youth. You would be amazed how just teaching little ones those basic skills helps them get through the day a tad bit easier. 😉

Just as I finished reading the "salt of the earth", I couldn't understand it and prayed to God for revealing his message. And after a few minutes, I saw this video.... Praise be to God forever 🙏🏾

Dear Bishop Barron
Your homily is challenging and motivating. Salt must identify with the world without losing its own identity. Salt must lose and dissolve itself to bring flavour. This is painful but productive.
Please pray for this 80 year old priest from Bombay working in Wales.
