I do charge hourly, but I have never (or rarely) wavered from my original estimate. It sets a bad tone and I wanted to make sure I never had that reputation as an artist. Earlier in my career, I ate the time/money so I could learn on the job and pick up my speed. It challenged me to get a good flow down so I would stop losing money! 😂

I guess technically I could say I charge per project since my estimate is always accurate of what I end up invoicing. This could be an easier way to present to a client since hourly charging can be overwhelming to some. Gives me something to think about. Thanks for the insight!

I watched a video once about not charging for your time. And the reason this was a good thing to avoid is because the better you get the faster you get... the less you earn?? Thats crazy, you should charge for your quality as you get better not per hr. Because the worth you bring to the company buy getting the image to them faster is worth more to them right.

it's a pity, you don't mention any numbers... I prefer to charge per image, by the way
