The price for 2nd hand boats around 10 years old and fully equipped is actually in Europe around 10, 000 Euro per foot. So a 45 footer is maximum 450 Thousand. Every higher price tag is pulling the customer over the table. A single built yacht in Aluminium brand new is maximum 100, 000 per foot. Annually every boat loses around 10% of its value, in average for first 10 years. On the day a boat owner picks up the brand new yacht he loses around 30-40% ad-hoc. We are not in a seller market. The market is flooded with boats. You can get a 50 footer of top naval architecture 30 years old for world wide circumnavigation at 80-120, 000 bucks. Keep ur money together. U need annually around 10% of the boat value for insurance; running costs, maintenance and modernisation. Saying all this with a background of 45 years sailing and working last 30 years as professional captain on sailing vessels up to 50 meters.

I cannot understand how they can build an "expedition" yacht with the superb build quality and robust design that this boat has but put twin, unprotected spade rudders on it. I know that Garcia says those rudders are designed to get damaged in the event they collide with something, but wouldn't it make a lot more sense to have a single rudder with a well built skeg to virtually eliminate the chances of the rudder ever colliding with anything in the first place?

No thanks, I'd rather have a Kraken, or any 25+ year old boat with a skeg hung rudder.

I’m pretty sure a Garcia 45 is more then 3/4 of a mil

Would need to redesign a way to access the engine better.

I love the boat except for engine access and why didn’t they WELD the deck fitting?? That’s one of the big advantages of a metal boat! Engine access is bad for a boat that’s suppose to go far and remote.

I was a US Navy Photographer at the Military Sealift Command (MSC) Oakland CA in the 1970s. One time I had to take photographs of a relatively new 150 ft. research vessel (USMS as opposed to USS) in dry dock with an aluminum hull with extensive hull pitting. The vessel was made in Scotland. The US Navy was not very happy about that.

Your not kidding engine access! What access? Looks like they use engine for ballast otherwise like you said nice set up probably $700K

Overpriced, and that lack of engine access is a non-starter for me. (Undersized anchor too, for a “expedition boat” but that’s easy to change).

Yes your right, and this is an actual yacht, unlike the fancy motorboats that fools call yachts .

Everything is relative. If someone is willing to pay that amount, then yes

This sailboat has a great design, aluminum hull, two helms in a spacious cockpit, outdoor dining area, teak sole, hard-covered entry, indoor nav station, salon visibility, and two cabins with two heads. 3/4 million $ means its price per square foot is extremely high. I prefer an aft main cabin in a sailboat (or even a powerboat). But an aft main cabin is hard to do in a small 45' boat with an aft cockpit. 45' boats are great for weekend boating but cramped for a go-anywhere boat. A 60-footer with the same design would be an ideal go-anywhere boat and command 3/4 million dollars (or more). I'd also want a hard cockpit cover installed with solar panels, a bigger battery bank, and engine access.

Should be worth around 250-300. You can get MUCH better for 750k 😅. Hell you can get a 45 foot cat for that!

Clean fix polish. Polish clean fix. Fix clean polish. Polish fix clean. Repeat over and over and over. You can have these damn scows. I've spent my life with them and on them, 50 years, I'll never step foot aboard another damn boat.

Bet it's got a thin fin keel and tiny spade rudder. Just ready to rip a hole in the hull when you strike something.

They could charge double that and it would still be worth it.

Wow, you would think for $750, 000 and being 45 ft long the owners had would have a dedicated shower. If I was purchasing this boat that would probably be a deal-breaker for me. I mean there's no doubt about it it's a gorgeous boat and being aluminum hull makes it over-the-top for me however if you're spending that kind of money on a boat and you are taking your family and Friends I'm pretty sure your partner or wife is going to want a dedicated shower in his or her main owner's stateroom. Just my opinion
