The scow-bowed Revolution 24 is certainly weird, but is it wonderful?

This mini-cruiser may look quirky, even extraordinary, but wait till you see the space it provides below decks. Toby Hodges steps aboard from the Revolution 24's home port of La Rochelle

I like it - I can't wait for the Class 40 Scows designs to be de-tuned and adapted for the cruising market

I'm an instant fan!!! As an ex Minisail owner, I love the scow bow... And the interior space it creates is just awesome!

Love to see these kinds of innovative, break-the-mold type designs. Not sure this one is for me, but love to have the variety available anyway. Competition breeds innovation!

It might not be classically pretty, but as long as that blunt bow is kept above the water I see no reason to dislike it.

It looks like an aluminium pan, but it is, hands down, one of the most curious boats ever presented in this channel.
The concept is I believe sound through and through and it looks like a survival cocoon for an apocalyptical epic where the oceans became the one place to thrive.
Easily (oddly?) one of my favourite vessel that passed through Toby's seaworthy hands...

I just think it’s great to see something unique that combines a material less often used with unconventional design!

The scow is a great old idea brought back to life. I have been using the Musard 29 for 6 years and am delighted with this 8.80m transportable version.

Very nice on a calm sea I would imagine, but if things get a bit lively.... I would love to see her dealing with a decent swell, just to see how she does. The bow design obviously makes her a skimmer, so I would imagine that she would get slapped about a bit.

After looking at this strange boat for 9 and a half minutes, I already think she looks awesome in her own way. Bluff, hardy and utilitarian. I can imagine her exploring remote fjords in the high arctic, or something similarly adventurous.

It's one of those boats that just look like they shouldn't sail, but it looks like it does. Big fan of the thought that has gone into this yacht as well and the price looks more than reasonable too maybe that is because of not having carbon everywhere. The choice of aluminium really is an interesting and great choice, especially when it comes to the end of life of the yacht. I do hope they make the hull form using explosives :D Cheers for the vid.

What an interesting concept - likely she would work very well here in Australia - providing there was a lot of flow-through ventilation for the interior - otherwise she looks like a solar oven with that foredeck ! I would also have liked to have seen an image or diagram showing the entire hull for this mini-review. Hopefully there will be a more substantial review of the boat under sail in a 10 - 15 knot breeze and with a bit of chop on the water (to silence the critics of scows - chop is not a problem if you know how to sail one).

It is basically a really tall scow. One great feature is the huge volume for berths, and you would have to hit a vertical wall of water to bury that bow! Would be a great design for a small liveaboard with max room and low fees.

Interesting boat design. My question is where is the chain locker?

We just built a 42 scow bow, junk rig in berkeley. The Rosie G will llaunch by Christmas. At 42 its giant inside. Scow revolution is legit.

Great review of an interesting boat. I think it would be better to call the berth in the bow a u berth instead of a c berth

Fascinating little yacht. Great layout and use of space. Ultra low maintenance also. But for me a boat has to be pretty.

Curious to see how that would deal with the strong counter current or chop.

It would be so great to get a test video of the Revolution 29 as well.

Finally, a fun and seaworthy boat design i can afford! :)

This kind of hull shape lends itself to skimming on the surface instead of cutting through so they can be surprisingly fast maybe at the cost of tolerating some pounding. Scows are great for lakes, e g. Melges
