How the Canadian Government Works - OverSimplified

Firstly, Canada has a parliamentary democracy, and this is different from the presidential form of government. The Key Differences Between the Parliamentary and Presidential Forms of Government is in the role of the Head of State: for example, in the US, the head of state is the President, who therefore serves both as Head of State and as the leader of the government. Meanwhile, in Canada, Queen Elizabeth is the Head of State (apolitically, so she serves everyone, rather than just her own political ideology), whilst the Prime Minister is the Head of government and runs the government in the name of the Queen. In a parliamentary democracy, the voters elect the legislature called a parliament. The parliament then elects the prime minister.

Correction:
- Canada Is in fact a Parliamentary Monarchy, Which means, that there’s a Parliament which is the Government, and it is lead by the Prime Minister, with which is the head of Government. Then you have the state, which can be described as the ‘soul of the people’ and the head of state is the British Monarch.

The state can also be described as how do we the government, conduct ourselves in general, beliefs, attitude, Ideas, that sort of stuff.

Nice video, but unfortunately there are several errors in it.

1. At 12:20 it is stated that senators in the USA are elected to four year terms. This is incorrect. The correct term is six years.

2. In two places, with the second one at 9:35, it is stated that the province of Quebec did not approve the 1982 constitutional changes. As was correctly stated before that, prior to 1982 the constitutional amending formula was that the federal government would advise the parliament at Westminster to make the legislative changes. The provincial governments had no official role. Since a majority of Quebec's federal members of parliament approved the 1982 changes, that means that Quebec did, in fact, approve the 1982 constitution.

3. The video states that municipal elections are non-partisan. This is not true. For example, both Montreal and Vancouver have municipal political parties.

We trust people with little knowledge or experience to lead our country, hoping they’ll bring us success. But too often, these leaders are more focused on filling their own pockets and helping their friends than actually serving the people. In the end, we are the ones who suffer, dealing with the consequences of their greed. When the next election comes, we don’t have a real choice, just the lesser of two evils, the one who will harm us the least. It’s a sad reality, where true leadership seems lost, and we’re left hoping the damage will be manageable. Instead of looking for progress, we’re just trying to survive the decay.

US senators are elected to 6 year terms. Not 4. And 1/3 of the senate is elected every 2 years.
