Walking Organic Soybeans

Summer fun in an organic soybean field. This is an example of "cosmetic" weeding as the weed density is not at the yield reduction level.

At first I couldn't figure out why kids wouldn't enjoy a nice walk through the field. Then I found out it wasn't just a "walk" LOL

Oh boy, memories of picking wild mustard in the spring grain fields as a kid. Seemed the Deer Flies were at their best!
That and picking stones.

Great way to teach the kids. That brings back memory’s for sure. It’s amazing how a couple hours devoted to walking the fields can really clean them up. Another lost art form I guess. Those spiders seem to have a different name everywhere you go. In Kentucky they are “ tobacco spiders “, and in Wisconsin we always called them “corn spiders “. Great looking field of beans my friend.

I would be walking my beans. But the extremely large black and yellow spiders that are randomly scattered throughout the field have chased me out of there!!!
