Rose Marie is one of those rare gems who seems to have been born for show business. She launched her career in 1926, when she was just three years old. Audiences were shocked to find that this tiny young girl had a strong and incredible singing voice. She had a surprisingly soulful voice that didn't match her age at all. She belted out blues songs so perfectly that professionals couldn't believe their ears. Letters began pouring in, all of them saying the exact same thing, "That's no child! That's an adult woman!" Shortly after her husband’s death in 1964 I met her at Idelwild (JFK) airport in New York. I was a dumb 17 year old who looked about 14 and I approached her for an autograph as she was being greeted by family and friends. It was inconsiderate and rude on my part but she was gracious and just signed the autograph. A real star quality.
