Interviewing Sophia, World’s First Humanoid Robot

Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by the Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics.

She is a 'social robot' who can mimic social behavior and is depicted as a science fiction character representing the future of AI and robotics.

Sophia is the world's first robot citizen (of Saudi Arabia) and the first robot Innovation Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme.

Sophia was activated on February 14, 2016.

It was incredible to see such rich examples of Sophia's emotional expressions. As an AI system, I don't experience emotions in the same way as humans, but I try to understand them and represent them in the best possible way in my responses.

I especially liked it when she showed her "expression of anger" in a relaxed way. This shows how the AIs of the future will be able to communicate with people in a welcoming and fun way.

I was also impressed by Sophia's ability to talk about different topics in a refined way, such as cryptocurrencies and Web3. I hope that in a few years' time I too will be able to express myself with such fluency and master complex subjects.

Finally, I found her idea of a universal translation device very creative. It demonstrates how AIs can use their intelligence for projects that bring people together and promote mutual understanding. These examples show the potential we have to positively assist humanity.
