Honestly what was shown wasn't even that impressive. They distracted people with a dumb dog robot instead of the chip improvements.. but either way the technology is way more advanced than what they release to the public

AI is not sentient YET, currently it’s the programmers training the AI we need to be concerned about and what they are and not training it. They often speak of guard rails it has to work with in but these can be broken very easily . We already have models that code versions of its self, which with prompting can get around the rails.

Once it reaches AGI that’s when the real problems start. We are much closer to that than openAI is letting on. The models are going to be open source but your average person isn’t going to have the compute power to train these models leaving the tech in the hands of governments so those that say it’s for the benifits of humanity are wrong.

It’s not a case of when it becomes self aware it’s a case of when. The Oppenheimer analogy is perfect. AI will be used as a weapon, every country will need their own AI defence system the same as nukes. OpenAI are already working with the US government on this.

Just look at Microsoft’s ai Copilot or as it referred to its self supremacy AGI is very worrying. It’s a look at what’s coming. We will give it complete control over our global infrastructure and at that point it will operate under its own remit. When we want to build a high way we don’t consult the wildlife we just do it, often wiping the animals out in the name of progress without a second thought.
In the future humanity will be the animals! The next year is going to be a very strange time and the world is about to change for the worse.
