Emperor Likes Me

I had my very fist up close interaction with an Emperor Penguin!

Most of its friends were quietly molting behind a snow berm on behind me about 15 yards. This one seemed too excited about his new feathers to just stand around though.

Can anyone out there translate his (or her?) trumpeting sounds and head motions for me?

For those who don't understand, this is the inspector penguin. He makes sure that people have food for him, and if there is no food, he will be angry.

It’s all even funnier when you remember that Emperor Penguins are the tallest and heaviest of all penguins, and impressively so, since there are records of them being anywhere between 3.9-4.9 feet tall (1.2-1.5 metres). This penguin was more likely able to meet the cameraman at eye level when he was sitting down, but he also could potentially be as tall as an average 12 year old. Thats how big they can get.
Btw, they can live 20 years in the wild but some have been recorded to live upwards of 50. So this penguin has a good chance of still being around…waiting for his cameraman true love to return.

Everyone knows what a penguin is but I feel like actually meeting one would be so bizarre

Having this bird walk up to you, on two feet, look you in the face probably at your height, and then make such strange sounds.
