New Honda HR-V 2024 - FIRST LOOK, exterior & interior

The new Honda HR-V Hybrid brings a fresh, stylish look to the small SUV segment while retaining the practicality and comfort Honda is known for. The exterior design is modern and eye-catching with sleek headlights, a prominent grille, and clean lines. The interior is just as appealing with a simple, clutter-free layout and quality materials.


At the heart of the HR-V is Honda's e:HEV hybrid powertrain. It combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a total output of 131 horsepower. The transition between electric and gasoline power is smooth and nearly seamless in normal driving. However, when accelerating hard, the engine can get noisy as the CVT transmission holds it at high rpm. Fuel economy is a highlight, with an EPA rating of 38 mpg combined.

On the road, the HR-V focuses on comfort over sportiness. The suspension ably soaks up bumps and road imperfections. Steering is light and accurate, making the HR-V easy to maneuver. There's ample interior space, especially legroom, and excellent visibility. The rear Magic Seats allow flexible cargo configurations when the back seat is folded. However, the HR-V's cargo space is on the small side for the class.

The redesigned interior looks crisp and uncluttered. The new 9-inch touchscreen is attractive and among the largest in the segment, with standard wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Knobs for climate control keep cabin adjustments simple. The mix of digital and analog gauges feels slightly disjointed. Seats are supportive with quality padding.

Standard safety tech includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more. So far, reliability and owner satisfaction have been excellent. With attractive styling, a comfortable ride, impressive mpg, and Honda's reputation, the 2022 HR-V Hybrid is easy to recommend for a small crossover SUV. Overall, the new HR-V Hybrid offers an appealing blend of style, efficiency, comfort and strong value.
