I'm just really glad we got a good Terminator story after 4 movie flops. I know this anime wasn't to everyone's liking (I've read and watched various reviews on YouTube etc.), but I enjoyed it. I really liked Misaki's character, she was probably the most attractive of the cast, but Malcolm Lee's story was also very interesting and something new in the franchise that we haven't seen before. Yes, there are old tropes from previous movies, a lot of fan service. But it's done so gracefully and very respectfully to the source material that you feel joy, that you understand these references and Easter eggs. And yes, the fear of the Terminator and the threat he posed to the characters is conveyed very well (I haven't felt this since the Judgment Day). Damn, I haven't seen this since the first two films. The show has almost no humor... It's very serious and reflects on the topic of AI and simply asks philosophical questions. I didn't understand all the questions and messages, but they were definitely interesting.

Bro the part where the terminator starts tracking the robot cat via dial up was so terrifying. They definitely upped the ante on the technological horror of the terminator. Even using the head of those other robots to disguise itself as one of them was also pretty cool. Wish we can get to see more terminators augmenting their bodies like he did with the crossbow.

One thing that comes to mind is Doyle from the Baki anime. Imagine a terminator that installed spring loaded blades into its body to use as weapons and has to move certain parts to control them.

That scene underground when the little girl gets approached that whole dialogue was creepy scary as hell. Show is awesome.

The Japan terminator was an absolute menace.

They should make Alien as anime. Not CG anime. Japanese anime type. They can make 3 areas of Alien universe at the same time. Show takes place I think on Earth, movies in Zeta Reticule system and anime possibly a different planet like in comics.

Misaki in particular is fascinating and she brings up questions that have never been asked before in this series.
It's #9 on Netflix today so I hope we get another season.

Couldn't agree more, the score and animation is absolutely top notch and the writting is arguably the best the series has ever been!

Philosophy and explanation of time travel was genuine perfection

Can't remember the last time I watched a series twice in one weekend.

And the 80s synth mixed with the original terminator score is beautiful.

One thing that bothered me A LOT was Eiko making stupid decisions like fighting the terminator in hand to hand combat or how in one part the terminator grabs her, punches her back MULTIPLE times, but she survives like nothing happened. Why nobody is mentioning any of that beats me...

I've just finished watching and I thought it was quite good! Not amazing, perhaps could have been 6 episodes rather than 8. I did like the story and the characters. The only point that I didn't like was the reason that Misaki chose to be female instead of male was because "men are the destroyers", which yeah, sometimes that's true, but men also built basically every damn thing we use today. So 9 times out of 10 men are builders, not destroyers. A man (Malcolm Lee) even built Misaki herself in the story!

But overall I enjoyed it. I thought Timothy Olyphant's voice work in this was very good, he made his Terminator sound very cool. I'm glad I watched it.

I made this comment 20 years ago, i've come back in time to edit it, time-travel is a good laugh.

Was a bit different than I expected, but I like it overall. It's more philosophical, which leads to the ending, but, getting there, the Terminator is nerfed a bit with its robotic strength and aim failing to plot armor.

Still, I like the actual story and how it explains Skynet's knee-jerk reaction vs Kokoro's via a debate of human nature while also including an homage to the original.

If I were to change one thing, it would be that, if you must fight a Terminator hand-to-hand, the machine should be shown as such. If it grabs you, it can crush you. If it hits you, it breaks bones. Sure, a human can land a lucky kick to push away, but there are moments where characters break the Terminator's grip with ease despite the show also showing how catastrophically powerful the Terminator's grip is in comparison to a human.

Keep the threat of the story an actual threat, and everything would've been great as I like the rest of the writing.

I just finished it, and I totally agree with you. This was really well written, and for anime, it was at some points surprising. Most of the parts with Malcom and Kokoro dragged on a bit, but for the most part was very interesting and engaging. And yes, the SCORE🔥💯 they used it in places so spot on, and not too repetitive. Only a few times did they use the classic Terminator theme, but did so brilliantly. Love this show, definitely going to rewatch it again, I have two toddlers so it was a bit noisy and I had to pause in between at times haha. Highly recommended, can’t wait for the next season!!

Being someone who isn't a die hard Terminator fan, one who knows all the lore and such, I've always had a fascination with the franchise. Having seen T1, 2 and 3 as well as Salvation and the horrifically underrated tv show "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" this franchise is something that has always peaked my interest (yes, even the bad ones, but not counting the new movie (gross)

Now, I say all of this because I just finished watching "Terminator Zero" I can not recommend this show enough. The way it told an original story without relying on the past films was truly something special. The concept of time travel was so well explained that it was easy for anyone to understand it. The cast were all amazing and not a bad egg among them. Not a single bad peace of dialog was shared as the writers knew what they were doing and thus payed respect to the fans of this franchise. The twists and turns this movie had was also surprising as one instance I thought I knew what was going to happen, but I was left doing the "Leo DiCaprio pointing meme" (especially when certain characters turned out to be (redacted).

I don't know if I can explain all of my thoughts without repeating what Mr. H said in the video, so I'll just say this: If you haven't seen this show yet or on the fence about it, please, go watch it. You will not regret it.

This was a masterpiece, I wish the predator series would do this. Each episode could be a different time period.
