that was impossible because at such close range just a few hits from yamato's two 460mm main guns would be enough to seriously damage uss essex and render her inoperable.

At such a range, Yamato should have won because only a few cannon hits and the Essex is basically dead and inoperable. However, ideally, the Essex wouldn’t have gotten that close to a battleship EVER. Essex should have started detected the Yamato and started launching their aircraft way WAY before the Yamato could fire their guns which is how the Yamato was actually taken down in real life.

Oh my gosh guys stop hating on it. It’s just a cartoon animation. It don’t have to be historically accurate.

I think it's strange to get so serious about such a simple children's video, but the moment the Yamato-class shell hits the Essex-class, it becomes incapacitated, and at this range, the Yamato would have shot it before it could even take flight. That's it, why isn't the secondary gun working? Why isn't Yamato facing sideways? I've been thinking this for a while, but your video is to sloppy. Just because the historical facts are like that, please stop thinking that aircraft carriers are the absolute strongest aircraft carrier.

Totally Historically Inaccurate

1: 11 torpedoes and 6 bombs were able to destroy the Yamato

2: Aircraft mainly used in the attack were F6F Hellcats, F4U Corsairs, SBC2 Helldivers, etc.

3. Yamato counterflooded multiple times from listing Heavily

4. The Casualties from the Carrier lost 27 aircraft, while in reality, Only 10 were destroyed in the attack

Any Historical Inaccuracies I missed?

Yamato armor: 650mm
Yamato weapons: 460 mm

Us essex armor: 30-100 mm
Us essex weapons: only Air planes.
Yamato could win very easy lol

To those who are glazing the Yamato please pay attention.
1.Japanese AAguns we’re famously horrible in ww2 and the Yamatos is not an exception(out of roughly 300 aircraft that attacked her in her final battle she shot down only 10)
2. Why would a US aircraft carrier engage a battleship within its firing range instead of its aircrafts operational range?
3. In the circumstances of the video the Yamato would smoke the US carrier(Duh)
4. It’s a video for children (but I guess we like to nit-pick)
In short, there’s a reason we don’t build battleships anymore.

It's impossible for an American aircraft carrier not to sink. It's just the whims of the person who made this video. Yamato wouldn't wait for that damn ship to attack again and again like that.

This is just glazing lol how tf can 1 carrier kill the yamato? Plus yamato could have 5-8 shoted the carrier and the planes cant take of in those conditions glazing a dam carrier

Ever since I was a young boy making models of every kind of WW2 planes and ships, Those guys ( every single one) were and still are my Heroes. I'm 60 now and that has never changed. Thank you, you know who you are.

This reminds me of operation 10 go. Edit.: will the Yamato ever use it secondary canon above the second turret

It doesn't make sense that 460 cannons or something at close range should have won the Yamato.

Странно. Один залп ямато против одного налета авиагруппы. Если линкор вышел на стрельбу главным каллибром по авианоссцу. Второго налета не будет...

It seems unlikely that an Essex-class aircraft carrier would be hit by a 460mm shell from a Yamato. If an armor-piercing (AP) shell hit the flight deck, it could penetrate the entire upper deck, destroy the hangar, and cause a serious explosion. Since the armor on the Essex's flight deck was quite thin, a single shot could damage many parked aircraft, and detonate the fuel and weapons on board. If the shell exploded in the bomb or aviation fuel storage, the Essex would almost certainly be destroyed immediately.

In the event that the shell hit the side of the ship, the consequences would be extremely serious. The Essex's side armor was only about 102mm thick, completely insufficient to stop the 460mm shell from a Yamato. An armor-piercing shell could penetrate the hull, destroy the engine compartment or fuel tank, lose maneuverability, and cause the ship to list heavily. If hit multiple times, the ship could break apart, flood rapidly, and risk sinking within hours.

However, Essex had a very good damage control system, so if it did not hit any vital compartments, it could be repaired and continue to operate. But if it took two or three direct hits, especially in the fuel tank or engine area, the possibility of serious damage or sinking was very high. Essex could withstand torpedoes or bombs, but against the 460mm firepower of Yamato, it had almost no chance of surviving a direct hit.
