14-year-old girl seriously injured after can of hair spray exploded in her face in Detroit

A 14-year-old girl is in the hospital following a freak accident and explosion at a Detroit hair salon. Tanajah Johnson suffered severe injuries because of a hair spray can left too close to a curling iron heater.

These comments are so disturbing to me I am her best friend and that is my niece by heart people are blaming my best friend when she was not the one who took her to the salon her father did... Prayers for this poor girl. Sad thing is because she's not a licensed cosmetologist that's not much you can do now. You'll have to sue her in civil court but good luck getting restitution from the unlicensed hairdresser.

I hope the salon has good insurance because. I smell a lawsuit coming the state needs to get involved and shut these places down and not allow people who is not licensed. My God bless this young lady and allow her to heal and get better. I pray that she'll be able to use both of her eyes as she has always been able to. Yes this is horrible and I do feel like mistakes happen this could have easily happened to a licensed stylist as well. I’ve seen the messages from the stylist and she has expressed how sorry she is, offered to help in any way, sent gifts and everything. I hope that she is able to move on from this, she had the disclaimer that she was not licensed so if that concerns people then don’t go to her. Praying for the family for a speedy recovery and all the damage to them, also the stylist that she can still do what she loves in the long run and that this experience doesn’t scar her as well.

Omg! Just one second that's illegal how can u rent a booth without a current valid license.
From wat I remember if ur practicing before u obtain ur license u can actually risk losing it.
& from the sound of it she was working NOT as an apprentice but as an ACTUAL stylist & that's a no-no

Aerosol cans are flammable. "Do not place near heat or flames." Wow! The cosmetology student sounds remorseful. I hope she continues in her career and not let this incident deter her. I pray that both young ladies will recover. This is horrible.

I have my license from 1980’s and my eldest daughter as well now my 23 yr old just received hers I’m not gonna lie I’ve worked in shops back in the day while still in school u suppose to only wash hair but I did people hair smh but that’s why I told my daughter just two weeks ago wait to receive your license before stepping into a shop ❤ yes you be anxious to do your thing but the owner should have known better as well we just have to continue praying for her and the stylist this is awful lord Jesus we need you Jesus right now to lay hands on her as she lay in the hospital and recovery we love you sweetheart keep you faith and believe God can and will conquer all 🙏🏾🙏🏾💗
