We need to address the 'filtering system' that prevents us from voting for competent and positive leaders.
So depressing.
As PM you have so much potential to deliver positive change.... instead we get this.

There's not a single ounce of socialism in Starmer's whole body 😡
Hardie would be disgusted!

Very true; it's short term thinking that seems to pervade everything.

To paraphrase Peter Cook: "Of course I haven't achieved my potential, what a terrible thing that would be. I like to leave it, glimmering, on the horizon."

It's partly because politics has been reduced to what the Americans call kitchen table issues. Your income is X, your house is this big, a new car costs X. These are things the average person understands, getting a pay raise or buying a bigger house generally isn't that easy and feels a little outside your control. Whereas cutting back spending, choosing not to have another child or taking a second job are things we could all do.
Political parties have become obsessed with getting elected and media attention but not on ruthless delivery of policy objectives to improve the quality of life for the population. There later will being the others not the other way round.

When oligarchs own the press/control the media narrative, we get a system of politics that is not based on a vision, or principles, instead it's a game of collaboration and optics - just to stay in office/stay in power - just to avoid criticism - just to keep having their snouts in the trough and survive long enough for no reason at all, until eventually the next lot take over for the same reasons. Utterly depressing.

I've been saying the exact same thing for years! Britain doesn't quite know where its future lies. China wants to be the workshop of the world, India the pharmacy, US tech. Where does Britain fit into the global narrative other than with British universities, the Premier League and manufacturing weapons? It may be due to a lack of leadership....or the problem with democracy due to political parties serving only short terms in office 🤷♂️

Good little video Zoe, especially as you did it whilst out and about. Got the tone just right and clearly said what you wanted to say, very succinct and to the point. I think I'm trying to say it, (the video) along with yourself looked quite professional. Keep up with the interesting and often thought provoking content even if we wouldn't always agree, besides it would be boring if we always agreed on everything in life.

We need people with competence running the country rather than flawed personalities with personal aspirations. Choose leadership candidates *randomly* from competent, honest subset of the population!

At least rock stars make people happy. As a general rule, politicians do not.
lornemalvo
I don't think Starmer is in it for the long haul judging by the grab everything he can while he can attitude he's had so far.
robmaslen
He's pretending to be a leader. He's a little frightened boy.

Student forward we need to build more hotels, lots more and then to go with that more prisons.

I do wonder if Angela Rayner would have been a better leader at this time.

This video is too simplistic, and seem to be crowbarring one issue to bolster another. I'm not buying it.
Rock Stars will succumb to self-destructive hedonistic tendencies because they're living the dream, but haven't learnt the lesson of moderation (and the fact that money will never ever buy you happiness, merely comfort and freedom). Trying to relate this issue with Labour's current plight is a bit of a stretch, IMHO.

The nan cannot do much. this is an example where a prosecutor is useless outside the courts. The worst PM since WW2.

Zoe, haven't you got a, boyfriend to enjoy...? Instead of this....
