We cannot continue to give relief to large profit making corporations. I have never voted for Labour but I will next time. Trickle down economics do not work as all the profits are moved offshore. Putting in a profit cap ensures any excess profits are fed back into pay, pensions and most importantly infrastructure investment. For example If EDF had done this we would already have had new reactors being built instead of handing 700 million in taxpayers money to a private company!

Liz Truss is completely missing the point. Starmer is talking about EXCESS profits for the oil and gas companies and they are indeed making excessive profits at the expense of the public and other businesses. These excess profits are actually preventing wider businesses as a whole from investing. He's not talking about other companies in other areas. If she thinks that a policy that permits excessive profits to be paid for by the bill payers over time is something that will go down well with the public, she's in for a big surprise.

The energy crises has f all to do with Russia my company was told feb 21 that prices would be tripling after Christmas. This was one year before putin we signed 5 year contracts at that point on the advice we were so rightly given.
