Timber Frame Barn - Fun House Tenon 1

On the Timber Frame Barn we are working on the twisted tenon, or what I call the fun house tenon. It was twisted a bit more than I thought, and it is evident in the joinery. As long as I made the joinery straight and on the same plane, it should work out. Be sure to subscribe if you are new!

Hey looking great. I see no reason it will not work just as you need it to. I have an idea for you to explain to others why you use the chalk line layout for beams like this. This could very well be a round tree not milled at all, you would use the same layout method on a round timber as you do with a twisted one. The twisted sides of the beam mean nothing other than the looks,

I have to say that I admire all of the work that you have been doing ... Awesome job(s)! In addition, your tutorials have been an inspiration that has my mind changed on a project that I am just now starting. Rather than having my trees milled to standard lumber deminsions (IE: 2x4, 2x6, etc), They will be milled for this kind of shop to be built. It looks like today will be spent on Sketchup, redesigning and coming up with a new "cut list".

Awesome videos! I look forward to your next vid. Keep up the good work.

I think that timber will look great in the frame. I love wonky, squirrely timbers.

It will be neat to see this go together. Should be plenty strong, and that's what counts.

When plan A falls through, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. It will be good to see it all come together and I'm sure it'll be fine. You'll have a story to tell about that beam.

Instead of a physical plane, you chose a virtual plane and worked from there. Works perfect!
