I am so excited to watch you at worlds! Re: pigeon pose - if you bend your knee more and bring your foot closer toward your pelvis (rather than getting that 90 degree angle), you might find the pose more accessible (and you're still stretching those major muscle groups). You can also place a yoga block under yourself and work from there. As a distance runner and yoga teacher who focuses on yoga for athletes, I can tell you that the majority of runners I've seen cannot come close to the 90 degree angle! Some is how we build up the musculature in the body, but some of that angle is also based on the shape of our bones (which is genetic). So don't say you can't do pigeon pose - you're doing it the way your body can, which is perfect!

Thanks for sharing your mobility routine. Big thumbs up per your mention of the roller. That allowed me to run marathons where I didn't finish looking like I was afflicted with some neurological disorder! I was always having the IT band get super tight, with huge pain in the knees for the last 10 miles, but just a few minutes twice a day was miraculous.

I think you are in amazing shape, likely the best of your life, as you have a tremendous base combined with countless miles uphill at elevation and great track workouts. Enjoy the spectacular views and the amazing terrain, and have an absolutely awesome race!

Cheese!! Aged Vermont cheddar or real Danish Harvarti - both are great. Good luck in Switzerland - we are so rooting for you. You choose your 'hard' and it's completely paying off. No matter what, you have already won. Enjoy every minute, even the hills!

9:31 Gruyère / Greyerzer is my favorite. It is slightly salty and spicy. Best Fondue mix is Moitié-moitié (Gruyère and Vacherin). Other specialities are "Hobelkäse" (hard cheese in thin sliced rolls), "Tête de moine" (Medium cheese in waved flower leaves) and Raclette.
