Rappers are under intense pressure to meet the demands of being in the spotlight. Some very talented artists feel forced to lie to themselves and the public to maintain an image they hope will lead to record sales. But usually, they end up getting exposed.

The best example of a rapper who took advantage of the game is Chamillionaire, and a R&B singer is Frank Ocean he got 20m and didn’t have to pay it back nor did he spend it. those are who new people need to take note of and not buy overpriced bs for clout

The average fan doesn’t fantasize about being a great artist, they fantasize about being rich & buying things

The answer is pretty obvious. These labels see a young man who’s never had money so it’s easy to rip them off. They know all they need to do is give them just enough to make him feel rich. They also know a young man isn’t gonna be smart with his money and invest it. It’s only when a rapper starts to get older that they realize all the bs the label did to them. By then it’s to late, the label already took millions from you. There are some that get lucky and have an older person guiding them but finding those people is not easy

Everybody wanna be a rapper. I wanna be the guy screwing over the rappers.

This is why a dude like Bobby Shmurda is winning. As an independent artist that all profit. Once you have a name, you don’t need a label to sell records.

I would’ve took that advance money and invested half in a few properties. That way if things doesn’t work out I still have an income that the labels don’t know about or could touch. These guys aren’t that smart

Saying “it’s not their fault” is super irresponsible. We all know what the industry is and these people still sign. Stop putting blame on others.

This is solely on them. I'm not going to waste a prayer on a rapper with a glorified lifestyle. They should be able to read and do basic math, but they see dollar signs only. The average person won't get an advance of hundreds of thousands of dollars from their job, so we don't need to feel sorry for them. Same for athletes and actors.
